So finally got around to messing with the NDEV kits I have today. I am not a stranger to dev kits but this is my first one from Nintendo. Searched the internet for a more current SDK then 2.1, was able to find 3.2 patch 3 (not the most current, but good enough for a test), got my old laptop up and running, plugged in the USB cables, drivers installed and video from the NDEV unit! As a test I sent the unit "diskchecker.gcm" from the laptop, and it did its thing. Now looking for some obsecure things I can do with it before I pass it along to someone else. Maybe some tech demos out there floating on the internet in dlf, rpf, gcm, or rmv format. Not looking for files. But names of things/techdemos/weirdstuff that can be pushed from the PC to the NDEV unit. Some cool tools to use, or some fun command line stuff. Spent about 2 weeks back in 2008 trying to get a PS2 Tool to play retail games from both JPN/USA regions (not good for the hard to replace laser/drive I know) ended up getting it working (thanks to these forums), made some videos and had alot of fun doing it. So got some time before they are all snatched up from trading forums (alas not on this forum yet, until I can get 50 posts). Any ides of some interesting things to do? Thanks in advance!

If you want to play retail Wii games on it then you can use my dol2elf converter to convert the retail DOL back to an elf and then call ndrun <name_of_elf.elf> to run it. That's after you've ripped the game to a folder on your host PC and set the correct DvdRoot via setndenv and also called setinitialcode and setcompanycode to ensure that the game save is created with the correct 4 character game code/2 character company code.

If you want to install the Wii System Menu on the NDEV so that it looks and feels just like a retail Wii then you'll need to search the net for the Wii system menu changer disk which will allow to install/remove the system menu at will.

If you've got a working Codewarrior for Wii (or even Codewarrior for Gamecube) suite then you can compile the multitude of samples from the SDK and even create your own game from scratch, if you're skills lie in game development!
