    Hey Everyone,

I've recently picked up DevKitPro and started doing some NDS programming. Could anyone point me in a direction as to which flash card is the best for the NDS, and programming in general?

I'd like to find a card that runs *.NDS images as natively as possible. That is, stright-up, no patching required, and accepts SD cards or Mini SD cards for input. I'm trying to stay away from anything with an integrated USB port since I'd like to be able to just whip out the flash card and write it myself.

Supercard DS One / DS One i , comes with a pre-installed moonshell, runs .nds natively and uses Micro SDHC cards (I believe it supports up to 8 GB)

Thanks for the advice. Would anyone agree with this comparison chart?

A little off topic, but for NDS images, what is the max size they can be? I've never hit the limit personally, but I suspect its 512mbit.

Is that just the max size any one company has happened to released, or is it the max size the DS can address for any particular game?

In terms of top of the line quality, I'd agree with a CycloDS. I think the AceKard2 is considered the best "cheap" card. Does everything except real time saves as far as I know. I'll probably end up getting an AceKard2 since all I want is something that can run code as native as possible.

As for code testing in general, given my experience with SuperCard (at least for the GBA), I would hazard a guess that it's one of the worst. I remember images getting hacked and patched just to run on the card (via client transfer software), and because they did it so poorly some games became unstable because the interrupts they patched gets overloaded. I remember speaking to Supercard reps in China, and they said the main problem they focus on is "Fighting Clones" over fixing hardware/software issues.

    I find that hilarious.

A Chinese clone builder complaining about other Chinese clone builders. :)

I'm told that the R4 is terribly out of date now that the development team has stopped working on it. I'm also told that other products using the R4 name are clones, not associated with the original team.

The Acekard 2i is currently the best price/performance DS card there is. I used to have an original R4, but it aged terribly so I upgraded to the Acekard a few months back. All R4 after the original aren't even made by the same people as the original, just different manufacturers using the established R4 name for their own products. I'd seriously suggest avoiding them if at all possible. Acekard 2i are ludicriously cheap for how well they work, haven't had any incompatibility problems yet. My brother also has a DSi and it works great on that. I've strictly told him not to upgrade his DSi using the updater though due to reports of Nintendo patching it's ability to boot on the DSi. I have a phat DS though and Lite won't have any problems at all either.

I thought we were talking official NDS flash carts.

As this is now devolving into R4 talk, thread is closed.
