I've read this model is similar to the LaserActive CLD A-100 and is compatible with its games. It was produced by NEC and released shortly after the model produced by Pioneer (which was released in August 20, 1993).

Its the NEC OEM version of laseractive. There is a NEC OEM PCE pack too.

    http://nekofan.free.fr/laseractivetest3.htm

although that site lists the PCE ones the wrong way round. LD1 is the player, LP1 the pce pack (unless I'm the wrong way round!).

There was an NOS set on yahoo a couple of years back, I think I still have the piccies. Iirc the player went for 80k yen, the pack 40k yen, but I'd need to check.

I wouldn't say it's too rare, at least the main unit, I reckon 1 in 20 or so on ebay is the NEC version.

I own one, but it doesn't work :(. I think it's identical to the Pioneer version except it is a different colour (greyish instead of black) and the logos on it. The NEC version of the PAC that came with it, the LP1 is also the same colour as the console.
