After buying a few PC-98NOTE notebooks (and thinking about getting a EPSON386 notebook) in the vain hope I might be able to get some of the PC-98x1 games (yeah like there are lots of those...) I have to work, I was wondering if anyone else has a PC-9801, PC-9821, PC-98Note, EPSON286 or EPSON386 series machine and uses it?

One thing I am trying to do is to convert images (of useful things like a boot disc and a setup utility disc) to real discs, I have a Type 3 USB drive but can't find any utilities to write images to discs (which is annoying as I can for the MSX and FM Towns).

    like this one > http://image.blog.livedoor.jp/ibs_hide/imgs/8/1/81ecbc55.jpg ?

i've seen those recently in hard offs (for about 2000en)as well in akiba (back street PC junk-shops), but never bought one, since they only come with a monochromatic screen.

do you know, what kind of games will run on those notes? does it play the shmups as well?

That looks like a PC-9801 notebook, but the 9801 is a tad underpowered, best to try and get a PC-9821 if you want to play anything decent. As for shooters, not the best machine to have there is Steam Hearts, Xenon 2 and Gaplus (I *reallly* want that...) and a few others. It a better machine if you like Mahjong games like I do...
