After a couple of years and several RRoD I abandoned the 360 wagon, but now I am looking to try again as I am feeling the miss of some 360 exclusives that I would love to play. Tho I would love to have all my games backedup to the internal or external harddisc as I am too lazy to swap them. So here is my question to you 360 experts: If I would like to buy a jtag 360 (or have it jtagged) what would be my options in rough general sence, what should I lookout for and which fw version/launcher is best? Any tips you can give me are welcome as I am a total noob on this subject thanks!
First you want a jasper, these things are the best protected against RROD. Another thing is that any jtag is a good jtag, it can be updated with the latest patch through xell or flash360. Last thing would be to get the software freestyle dash loaded onto your hard drive, this will boot into a nice little app that can modify your console's behavior if you wish and load your games from an external
Thanks lllsondowlll sounds great! Here another noob question then How do I recognize a jasper boxed in a shop or second hand?
Well about anything you get from a shop has already been updated, simply ask your seller what board it is, if he doesn't know Flash360 should identify it for him, it is a homebrew app that is aimed at backing up your onboard data but it will also label the motherboard revision.
Sounds like mission impossible asking somebody in a shop to run a homebrew app to check motherboard revisions. I'll probably need to go the second hand route and specifically look for somebody that knows what he/she is selling then.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by shop. Game stores are all selling un-jtagable consoles, by updated I meant that the exploit has been blocked. Your ONLY option is to buy from a second hand source unless where you live there is a shop selling jtag's which would be pretty weird but not unheard of.
Am trying to find them in local marketplaces tho they seem quite expensive but that was expected. Do jaspers come in both white and black btw?
Jaspers can come in both black and white. A simple check is the power connector on the console itself (rather than the power supply). It is possible to hack up to dash 7371. With jaspers, you will have to look for a MFR before JULY 2009 and a dash of 7371 or lower.
A jtag jasper is always going to cost more,I have a xenon jtag that runs fine,I have the fans running at full blast(12v)and I added a fan on the cpu heatshink so I get pretty good temps.
As far as I'm concerned Jasper JTAG's are worthless. For the price you are paying, you might as well go for broke and get a jasper XDK.
I would have to agree, when you can buy a jasper xdk from china for around the £200 mark jtags suddenly lose there appeal, I mean my xenon xdk has cost me around £80 and that includes the tools I bought to fix it and backup the nand.
Jasper kit would be the way to go I suppose. Jtag's are overpriced because the people selling them think they are worth a development kit, they are saddly mistaken they don't understand why a development kit has such a high price but it was just a trend that caught on, sell high.
