Hello world Richmen question, my current config: PS3 FAT PAL 60g 1T and PS2 FAT OPL PS2 Loader 500GB. The PS2 is there for the few games not compatible like OR2 SP. To summarize qualitatively bizarrely, it is the semi hardware that have the best graphics result .... no bug, better graphics especially for games that have the 480p option is beautiful ... For example if you force the 480p then the game menu on a PS3 JAP you will have a resolution of 480P max, while the semi hard version upscle will be done in 1080P. In CFW I noticed 3 games not compatible OR2 SP, Gradius compilation (3 & 4) and Macross (not compatible even with full). Macross and OR2 SP are games I like, Macross turns fine on emus but OR2 SP has some bug graphic .... so for these two games I use a PS2 FAT. Do you think have I to sacrifice better graphics for better compatibility. The goal is to make room by selling my 2 current console for a console PS3 JAP Full retro. Thank you
I've been in this position and my answer is whatever has the best compatibility is what you should go for UNLESS you have a way to make it look better. Having both options on hand and making the most of it is more important. I use a PS3 for all my PS2 needs because it will take virtually anything I throw at it, but I also have the cost of visuals being poorer.
THX, if I understand well you prefer compatibilty to graphism. But confirm me PS3 JAP/US have minimal same PS2 graphics skills? For me: - either upscale from 480i it's same thing about graphics for Full BC or semi - or from 480p, we have 480p max res (it's seem better thanPS2 480P, alliasing and colour is better for me) for full BC, and a very nice upscale 1080p for semi BC....less compatibility (I know 2 or 3 game compatible on full but not semi...with CFW cobra we have a very good compatibility 99% for full and 97% for semi...but OR2 SP it's in non semi BC compatible sadly....) I can resume problem like this compatiblty vs graphics.....
