Since there's another Steam sale going on right now... I'd like to get my hands on two copies of Borderlands GOTY, and since the US four-pack costs only slightly more than a single censored-to-hell german copy that'd be the most logical option to go for. Anyone willing to help out? I'm offering payment via PayPal. As an extra incentive: Since those four-packs can't be bought as gifts(*) you'd not only get good karma, but also a free copy of the game. :thumbsup: (* Just for clarification, in case we should be getting low on time: As opposed to the "usual" gifting, with the four-pack, you just buy it for your own account, one of the copies gets tied to it, and you gift the others to me after that.)
i bought the valve complete pack and the bastards stole my extra copies ... i payed for them shoulnt it be my right with what i do with them... grr i cant help i already bought your awesome games valve
Well, you do at least get a message informing you don't get extra copies of games you already own before the purchase, afaik. At least I did when I bought the HL2 pack and I already had Lost Coast.
not cut from the sale as in "not there", but the german versions of many games are censored - i.e. no death animations, no blood, splatter, ragdoll physics etc... Also, there are some games which we don't even get here. If you look inside the Epic publisher tab on the current Steam sale, there's just one game in there. The usual id games don't show up at all. Plus, games are often (but not always!) much cheaper in the US store than in the UK or EURO store. So it makes sense to have someone buy them overseas, then gift them to you.
Same thing for Australia (and probalby other regions as well) btw. Try asking an aussie about the blood and dismemberment in his L4D2... Because there's none. Also, no Riot Cop zombies - ever! The worst thing in my opinion is that you don't even always get informed you're buying a censored version beforehand (or at least you didn't back when I bought Bioshock).
Wow that is lame censorship right there. Always thought EU countries were more laid back on this shiz.
Well, yes and no - Depends on where you look, and the topic. While the US have a major problems with nudity, Germany doesn't mind showing lots of skin - but won't allow violence and/or any nazis. Australia (not EU, I know...) seems to be really paranoid about drugs, etc.
