I've been trying to order some tea from
Jacksons of Piccadilly, and no one in the states sells it.

Any chance someone knows a place that sell their tea online,
or can pick me up some?

    Specifically, the earl grey.

You're in luck. There is an official jacksons wholesaler, 5 miles from my house, I can call them tomorrow if you want?

I might be in London on the weekend. I take it they have a retail outlet there? I got f**ked off with their website - worst design I've seen in a long time!

    Ewwww!

Firstly, PG Tips is not Earl Grey. Secondly, eww!

PG Tips is the equivalent of... hmm, Nescafe over a proper coffee, Sainsbury's own lemonade over R-Whites. Passable, but there are far better.

Oh, by the way, tea shouldn't be made with tea bags ;-)

I got a gift set of the Whittards own-brand ones for Christmas, just before they went bankrupt  I think some of the stores are independently trading at the moment though (and the better supermarkets always do good tea), happy to send you a box if you like.

Think the missus has drunk all my Earl Grey, Lady Grey is pretty nice too if you like the bergamot, it's a more orangey version. Assam is probably the most standard 'British' tea (ie strong, wet and hot) which comprises most of PG Tips along with Kenyan and Ceylon - not sure why retro hates it so much, it's just a different style!

Coincidentally I'm going out for afternoon tea for the in-laws' birthdays today. Stereotypes be damned :icon_bigg

To be honest I like a real brutal earl grey. They make it here by aging the fruit with the tea, instead of using the oil as should be done. This is all to be cheap, as the pressed rinds are cheap but the oil is not.

Compared to english tea, I have to say I prefer the briskness of irish breakfast tea.

I order the rest of my tea from china. I get it from the original five sacred mountains from high altitude trees that are over 700 years old. There's even a tree called "the king of tea trees" it's the world's oldest planted tea
tree, some 3600 years old. I'd love to taste the tea from it, but it's $38,000 for 100 grams. Someday...

Here's the chap I buy from.

Have you tried it? Then you can have nice tea and feel good that the people that grew the tea don't get anal raped by the middlemen.
