Anyways, I'm just about to start moving into my new apartment. Its a typical university apartment, for 1 person so its not that spacy. However, still I think I need to get a good tv. So I was wondering what people on this board would reccommend as a good deal. Not sure what size exactly I'm looking for, but my budget is aprx like 1200 max. Everyone keeps mentions how important a good TV is for gaming so I wonder what everyone reccomends. Or if there's a good media set-up (e.g. something with surround sound, or with multiple audio-video slots for multiple systems) that I could get for this price. It should be noted that right now I only have a Wii, that I plan on bringing up with me. Any help you guys could give would really mean alot.
I'd go with an LCD since (I assume) space is an issue. Otherwise, your best bet is a regular CRT IMO. I have a Sony DLP set and it's pretty good IMO. Not the top of the line model, but good enough for me. They are pretty thin and can be had in you price range for sure.
CRT for the win, esp. if you are not going to do High-Def or you are a retro gamer. I have a 27" Sanyo Flat Screen CRT with Componet, Composite, S-Video, and a digital tuner. Its great for everything except it wont do HD. Its on sale at Walmarts right now for lik 280$ I think.
Hmmm... I actually was considering HD. What I think I might do is get a Xbox360 as a DVD player and a HD TV. Is that not recommended. Or is it just not worth it when considering the cost.
HD is good and its worth it but unless you really really want HD gaming/tv viewing then go with crt. i have had my crt for about 5/6 years now cost me half price (£500) when i got it and still going strong plus i only own 1 peice of av equiptment that has HD connection and has proper use for HD thats my cable box and even then not seen the need to upgrade tv yet
For older gaming, a standard CRT is best. But since you likely will be into newer gaming, you should get some that's HD. You'll probably want to do some research, but you probably would do pretty well if you got a Samsung LCD. Not sure on your space but a 21" is not too small but not huge either. Probably all the advise I have really is go with a reputable brand, make sure it has whatever connections and options you need. Just remember when you go High-Def, retro systems look like ass when upscaled/deinterlaced/filtered/etc. For any Retrogaming you should use a standard CRT TV or RGB monitor.
