So I've got one of the old PS3's just lying around and it's in need of another reflow due to YLOD, after I've sorted the YLOD I was thinking about redesigning the case to give better cooling. I honestly don't care how much space it takes up, I'm just curious if I can keep this thing as cool as possible with a new case and a couple of heatsinks/fans. Any ideas? My main concern is what I'd make the case out of to begin with... I've got plenty of time on my hands so I'm prepared to put a lot of time into this. So yeah this is basically just a little project I'm starting, any help and advice would be appreciated. Thanks
I'd personally look into a micro tower case or a media center case for it. Just would have to extend a few cables to mount things easily probably. Never messed with the guts of a ps3 so who knows how hard it would really be.
Yeah, I've got a spare tower lying around that I could easily fit it into but I'm thinking of going for something more unique, designed specifically for the job. I could go for the PC case in the end though
I recalled some uses the water cooling technology on the rsx on the ps3. damn that thing is huge and temps are great. You need to dig it out via the internet for more info.
