I recently acquire a XDK with a LG drive for a real cheap price. Now for the real pain in the ass, the former owner knows nothing about the value of XDK, so he flash the DVD drive with Xtreme firmware. Even I got the origin firmware from him, I found out that e no way to flash the origin firmware back because the JungleFlasher do an auto MD5 check on the origin59.bin, so I can't replace the Retail origin59.bin with my origin firmware. So please tell me, is there anyway around this? (It's a GDR3120L-0059 LG drive)
Im not positive on this so dont freek if im completly 100% wrong but, i heard that you could just instal any disc drive with its board, thus iliminating the need to reflash it, just pop in a new one and go, but i may be intirly wrong, i read it somewhere but never attempted it, xenon.7 will know for sure. If your still determined on re-flashing it, go on x-s there good with flashing there since thats all the modding thats been available on the 360 for the last 4 years.
Mh, i think dvd-recovery could do this for you. I used in the past for some month my retail drive. And in this time i recovert two times the xdk. After that i put the drive back in my retail and i noticed that the recovery flashed it. Test it with a dvd-recovery. I used in the past my retaildvd in my xdk. After i recoverd my xdk i put the drive back in my retail and it was flashed. In the past i used a retaildrive in my xdk beause the orig was broken. After i recovert to a new kernel i put the drive back at retail. I noticed that the drive was flashed.
Tripple post , yea it takes like 30 mins for your post to show schwatter, its not that its not there, it just takes a while now, idk why (thats probably why u said the same thing and rephrased 3 times) so i just figured i lett you know
May i ask if you recieved any recoveries with it. if not then it shouldnt be hard to find the 9238 version online and if you did here is a little guide to help you out. http://www.edelman-monitoring.es/mi...ug/Updating the Xbox 360 console software.doc
After I used the recovery, I removed the DVD drive and dumped the firmware to check, it indeed was reflashed by the recovery disc. Thanks for all your help..
Yes. Any dvd drive from a 360(hitatchi, benq, etc) will work in your console, you'd just need to recover to set a new DVD key. I remember when my other kit was getting a bad DVD key error upon startup, I would boot with the drive ejecting, and it wouldn't throw the error, so all I did was run a remote recovery and it tied the DVD keys once more, thus, no more error. Glad to see you got it going.
