    Hi, is there a service manual floating around for the psp 1000 first gens?

    Can I change out some of the resistors and fuses if a motherboard is water damaged or is the mb done for good?

    Also, is there a way to test all the resistors to make sure they work with a multimeter?

    Also I have a PSX DESR 5100 motherboard that won't turn on since I put a PSX DESR 5500 PSU in it. I can't even get it in stand by. The PSUs work in other consoles. Did it short circuit?

    I am a total newb, but am able to solder SMD stuff.

    Let me know!! Thanks

    pretty much if something is water damaged just swapping parts won't help.
    Get so many people in saying they dropped their phone in water and if I can just change the battery for them, it never works like that ;)

    Water damage is one of those things where there is not cut dry answer, as anything could have happened. Be prepared to spend a lot of time with it.

    With a PSP as it's small you could get a ultrasonic cleaner really cheap and clean the pcb, then inspect it to look for corrosion damage.

    If your MM has an auto range for resistance that'll help a bunch :)

    You could have blown a fuse on the desr but I don't see how the PSU could have done that as they should all have the same pinout.. check with your multimeter. The PSX SPU isn't switched it's a constant output (unlike a PC PSU)

    It's ok everyone starts off the same way :)

    PS: Photos help

    The PSX motherboards have tons of fuses. A couple of them are related to standby.

    Luckily for you the fuses are identified as such on the motherboard.

    About the PSP with water damage, it's hard to repair such units. Ask anyone with experience on repairing cell phones. -_-;
