Security Monitor.jpg Security Monitor1.jpg I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but mods can move if needed.
I got my hands on a Security Camera monitor, and wanted to see if I could use it with my retro consoles, but I know nothing about this contraption, which could be B&W for all I know. I will post pics when I get a chance, but Here's what I do know:
    Brand: ULTRAK
    Model No.: KO-1242C
It as 4 camera inputs labelled CAM1-CAM4 with a 5th input for VCR. All 5 inputs use what looks like a phone plug (like, the plug for landline telephones/Dial-up, not Ethernet). Definitely not BNC or Breakout.
It powers on and attempts to scan all 4 CAM ports. I can't see anything on the screen, but it makes that good ol' ear piercing CRT squeal, so I think it works *knocks on wood*

I also have an RGB SCART cable for a Super Nintendo with sync-on-composite (not CSync), but I can't find an adapter for this thing, or any information about how to make one, so I can't even test it.

My Google-fu has proven too weak for this one. Help me out homies!
EDIT: Pics added. Sorry for the delay.

From what little I know about building surveillance equipment, analog video things usually use/support composite only. As for the pinout, you should crosspost this to some of the CCTV communities if you haven't already - I doubt a lot of gamers use these displays. The adapter will likely have to be a custom made one.

Hmm... Composite eh? I kinda figured the VCR input would be composite only, but I was kinda hoping beyond hope that the Camera ports could do RGB somehow. I'm not great at soldering, but I should be able to slap together a phone-cable-to-SCART adapter, but I can't find any pin-outs for this thing on the internet. I'll keep looking, but if this is composite only, then I'll just try to resell or donate it.

One thing you could is count pins (I don't remember how many 'phone' type plugs have, and besides, your notion of 'normal' plugs may be different). RGB needs at least five (R/G/B, Sync, Ground). Less than that = definitely bad news bears, equal or more = mystery manatees (ie need to find dem pinouts to know for sure). No friggin clue about how common audio transfer is for surveillance - that'd take up another 1-2 (mono/stereo) pins if present.

(Donate? A CRT - and a non-TV one at that? In 20167? Yeah, good luck finding any takers for that.)

Small word of advice. If you are looking for a CRT monitor, used surveillance equipment is the wrong way to go as those things get abused very badly. They are generally running 24/7 with a static or nearly static image at all times.

Added pics to OP as I said I would.
I can't find a pin-out for the life of me, but It definitely has at least 1 speaker, so it probably accepts stereo or at least mono sound, and the pins look a bit lacking to carry a SCART signal, so it's probably composite.
I still have no way of testing it out, so it very well could have some image burn-in.
If this thing turns out to be useless to me for whatever reason, I can't really complain. I got it at a second-hand store for $10

Everything I can find on it is that it's black and white and meant to take the full av signal from each camera over each individual rj11 port. IMO, she is a no good

'zat so? Well, I never found anything on it, but I found some info on a few similar models that were also B&W.
Well, that sucks. Guess I'll give it away. Thanks for your help.
