Hi ! just tried to get my GD-Burner to work (to read some GDs), and encountered some serious problems ... propaby mostly my total lack of knowledge for SCSI ... 1. Does Katana R9 work with XP ? (I have working ASPI layers installed ... (aspchk says so)) 2. what selections do I have to make on the Burner ? Terminator ? ID-Selector ? (its the only SCSI thing on the PC) 3. Do I need a Terminator on "SCSI-2" port ? 4. GD-Workshop tells me "unable to detemine emulation configuration you will be taken to the configuration screen", which takes me to a "configure drive letters" dialog which shows 3 Adapters (I guess Katana, DVD-drive and Virtual CD), but I can't really do anything in that dialog ? 5. after "ok" (without any changes in the last dialog) GD-Workshop quits ... HELP !!!!! thanks manopac
A dev box HAS to be connected to otherwise GD Workshop ain't gonna let you do shazbot. After you hook up a dev box you can either plug it into the dev box or into the PC. Then GD Workshop will allow you to add it as a CD-R -_- GD workshop quits because no dev box is hooked up. There is not a lot you can do with it without a dev box except to test that it can be recognised by windows/the drive can open by windows command/ whether or not a disc is rejected. SCSI terminitors are not needed.
so I can use the GD-Writer (-> dump a GD) only if the Devbox is connected ? can I dump from the GD in the dev-box or do I use the GD-Writer for it ? thanx
... i think you can use a stand alone GDwriter with the CDcraft utility,at least that's what my memory tells me.
This is something I always wanted to know... You can use the GD-writer just to write to GDs, or there is a way to read them? How about CDR? PD
if you remember I posted a dicovery on the old board where I had dicoevered 3 secret switches inside the gd writer which enabled it also to read GD's
Did you ever test the actual ability to read GDs? As far as I remember you got as far as the drive not automatically rejecting GD-ROMs but never got around to actually reading them as the drive was dissected. :smt017
ok, tried to get the Dev-Box to work with my XP-Notebook ... same questions as before ... HELP !!!! I want to get it to run and use it to try to dump the Flintstones WL ... (besides having a look at the harddisk ...) regards manopac
... Well,i am not entirely sure but here it goes... You cannot view the contents of a gdrom. The only way is to dump it using a coder's cable or a broadband adapter.I spent some time trying to view the contents of some commercial GDs on my DevBox but i did not manage anything. The various utilities in the SDK are there to construct images for development and GD burning, not for viewing. I imagine that the only way to view the contents of a GD is to have the original project files that will be used from the utilities.Otheriwise it does not make sense,as Developers had to have their creations protected from pirates and other developers from ripping their art. Anyway,do not take my words for granted as i was not very interested in the subject and spent very little time on it.
use a serial cable + tools in exactly the same way you would for a retail dc -_- I used the serial cable to screw about with a VM utility :smt033
