    Something is wrong.

I should be getting 8+Mbps (Charter just increased the speed from 5mps to 8)
but i'm capping at 3( and on IE getting only 1mbps)

My other Desktop using wireless gets a bigger ping by around 200ms but the speed is capped at 5.

I unplugged the wireless and i'm still getting 3 on my Cord connected Deskop.

    WTHell is going on.

Could something in my system possibly be causing this???

I should be getting 5 Mbps at least :<:banghead:

    any help? :-(

8Mbps would be your maximum... IE, if you were next door to the ISP. I'd be happy with 3. My max was 160 at my last place but only got 55 or so at best.

I'd call their tech support and have them run some tests on your lines.
I am well aware that there is a huge difference between Cable and DSL, but I have been getting only 10% of my cap speed with DSL and a tech had to come out and repair all sorts of shit in my area to fix the issue.

Basically all I'm saying is that it may very well be an issue on their end or with their infrastructure.

Ah. Yeah, if it actually went down, then that's another story. The bad news is, you'll likely have to wad through heaps of shit to get anyone that knows anything, or is willing to do anything about it. The standard line here is, "it's your router, fix the configuration". I almost made a lady cry b/c I kept telling her I did all that, I know exactly what the fuck I'm doing, and even had a Cisco certified technician confirm the router was fine. (All of the above is true). My DNS caching is still fucked, btw.

    >.> lol Don't we all just wish they got all this crap right the first time instead of doing half assed work , ending up with connections that get screwed.

I tested the wireless on my PC instead of the other one and I got even less speed 1.0Mbps.

And the other computer is currently getting between 5/6 on wireless. Which leads me to believe something could possibly be wrong with my computer.

I already updated to new network drivers and all windows updates, etc.
Nothing's changed so, I don't know whether it's the computer or the connection. But i'm thinking the computer since the other one works fine. :/

and my ps3 is getting 6.5 Mbps.(with the built in connection test)

I just tweaked it, no new results. :<

Did ping tests , edited new entries in Registry. Restarted. Nothing different.

And I just ran a test on the PS3 Web browser and it's getting the full 8Mbps now. :/

I would make sure if I was using dsl that there were line filters on all the phones,
as well as check the signal strength the modem sees.

    I'm not on DSL though.
    I'm on Cable internet.

Though I can see one thinking I have DSL with such slow speeds

Find the hidden commands for your cable modem and check the signal to noise ration, odds are you need a line amp or to have them run a fresh line from the pole.

I asked for that, nearly 25% more speed.

No on fiber optic, so sweeeeet

LOL we had a problem with that a few months ago where upload basically RAPED download. (upload got 2 or 3 mb/s and download got like 0.55

Are you using a long ethernet cable or is the cable getting squashed. The longer the cable the more you lose as it travels in your wire

I figured out what the problem was.

"Sygate Personal Firewall" Was eating up all my bandwidth.

I turned it off and my Speeds jumped from 2/3 Mbps to 6/11 Mbps with the Speedtest.net Test.

With Speakeasy Speed Test it jumped to 20Mbps
