Hi @all, i have a problem with my Dreamcast and i hope somebody can help me to fix this problem. My Dc needs a long time to boot. When i start the console the dc logo appears and it seems that the bootprogress ist stopped for a few minutes. After waiting time the mainscreen appears. When i insert a gdr, i also wait a few minutes at the mainscreen before the game will start. I have no idea what's happened. i need help ;-) thank you... ps. last year i ve done the vga mod
After my VGA mod the dc worked fine for couple of months. But today i got this error. I ve tried to boot with the VGA cable and after that with my RGB cable. But both times i got the error.
First thing I'd do is open it up and check to see if any of the wiring from the VGA mod is shorting against anything. I'm not sure if a problem with the GD-ROM might cause a delay, do games run ok once they've loaded? Beyond that, I'm not sure what the cause of the problem could be.
First, thank you for your time. sorry, I hope you understand the problems right. Its difficult for me to explain it in english, but i try ;-) Ok, i have check my dc again (without open it complete). i have the delay until boot and when i get the mainscreen, a message appears "please wait - check disc..." but i have no disc insert. now, when i put a disc in the disc won´t rotate. hmm, it seems that the gd rom is damaged ... i will check this and the wires from the mod too. I have another idea. In the past there where a problem with the power supply and i put some sticks into a connector on the mainboard because the dc reboots permanently. Do you think it can be the problem from the power supply? big thanks from hannover
It sounds like the laser might be faulty or in need of calibration. When you switch your Dreamcast on, the laser thinks there's a disc and tries to read it, even if it's empty. That will probably be the cause of the delay. You could try to recalibrate the laser: http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translat...ration-guide.html&lp=en_de&btnTrUrl=Translate If that doesn't work, you might need to replace the laser or GD-ROM.
