My dreamcast was modded with 40pin connector. I would like to connect my 2.5 sata HDD but I am not sure which adapter should I use and how to connect the thing in the best way. My plan is to buy one of these adapters:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pata-40Pin...066456?hash=item48a6156998:g:NZYAAOSwR2RaMXVs

Are they worth it? ...and how do you connect a power supply to the 4pin molex? Using another 4pin to USB adapter which will be connected to usb power supply?

I hope some of you guys have the same hdd mod and can give me an advice. :)

It looks same like mine. The one which big capacitors is better. So it's a good choice for me :)
But be carreful somethimes some welds are poor quality and you have to re welding some pins. It's easy to do and to see which are bad.

For the power supply, you can use a computer psu but it's huge and ugly. I advise you to replace your dreamcast power supply by a pico psu or weld from the mother board to you adaptater the 5V and a GND.

When you see your dreamcast by the controller port you have in your psu pins 3.3V-5V-GND-GND-12V but you can find some picture around the web.

Tested and it worked! Big Thanks to User DragoonC about the information.

    Stuff which I use:

IDE -> SATA Adapter (remove the jumper to mount as slave)
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Delock-Konverter-SATA-zu-IDE/362199555614?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&clk_rvr_id=1437145843245&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&rmvSB=true

    power supply
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Netzteil-12V-5V-2A-für-IDE-Festplatten-CD-DVD-Brenner-m-Molexstecker-Stromkabel/122829854690?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

    - 40pin ribbon cable

    - Y-cable Molex so the power supply will provide the ssd/2.5HDD with 5volt
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Inter-Y-Ka...w8W5afg6w&clk_rvr_id=1437159343058&rmvSB=true

Important: Remove the yellow and one black cable because the sata 2.5 hdd and ssd needs only 5 volt (red cable)

Tested with 2.5 sata HDD and SSD and both worked.

Tested loading times with Soldier of fortune:
    Intro:
    HDD: 20s
    SSD: 18s

    Level:
    HDD: 28s
    SSD: 25s

The only thing which don't work is to dump original gd via dreamshell to sdd or hdd. It freezes when I press start. Any idea why? Dumping to sd card works. I am currently using Dreamshell 4.0 RC3. Should I try with the newer version?
