I testing a master system power converter for the genesis but it does not work always get a black screen. When I opened to clean it the first part was fine but when I take out the second part, the one that goes to the genesis the magnet was broke and break another thing like a resistor. The photo show what I tell. I need to know what is it. I going to desolder the part to see if it has a number. Ok I take it out and it say on it something like Z E5 a symbol I dont recognize and the number 104
Apolloboy got it right, 104 means 10 and 4 (zero's) so 10 0000 or 100,000pF or 0.1uF. If the symbol you don't recognise is the one under the capacitor (looks like 2 "T" s lying down) that is the symbol for capacitor. E5 would be the capacitor's number. Z no bloody idea. Now for the lolz
indeed I found that is a 0.01uF, but can I use any ceramic cap. The Z apparently is a tolerance. But the question is can I use any disc ceramic capacitor or a multilayer cap that it look like the ones in the pic.
It has a 104 code on it so it's actually 0.1, not 0.01. If it was 0.01 u,F it would have 103 on it instead.
