Need some knowleged for a price on a console.

I got a seller that offer to sell me a SEGA SG-1000 first model 1983. I haven't seen any photos but it does not have a box and its in good cosmetic condition with controller and hook up cables. I've seen this consoles without box go in ebay for over $500.

How much is really worth?
My offer will be $300 but I'm thinking about it.

That's rubbish in my opinion. I've seen boxed consoles for less than $150 on Yahoo. New ones may sell for $500.

Buyers on ebay are generally uninformed and tend to bid too much because of false scarcity generated by the sellers. If you want a real price take Yahoo as an example because that's the home market. I would never pay $500 for a loose mass-produced console such as the SG-1000.

 

Well given that advice then I go to check yahoo, problem is in japanese language. But I dont go for this one because I see one on yahoo auction for 10000 yen.

 

Don't forget about shipping for something like that from Japan, your ~$100 console could turn into a ~$200 console.

 

well is better than a $300 plus shipping from UK and turn into almost $400.

 

You could use a site like rinkya to see what's on yahoo.
