I was watching an arcade on ebay and I emailed the seller said I will offer him £250 for it right now. he agreed and it was nice, jamma 4 button MVS style CRT prob a wells gardener and extra buttons and a 6 button extra control panel. although i didn't care for the pcb it also was coming with a pandora 310 in 1, I was going to pop in an MVS into it I asked if its ok for a Arcade courier to pick it up and he said NO. completely lost out just because he wont deal with a courier and wanted personal collection. what is this world coming to they are a reputed courier oh well I wasn't meant to be
To be fair, hes right to refuse. Any collections have to be cash on collection, if you pay via paypal and arrange your own courier - he has no proof you got the item and you can just file a claim and win.
yeah I didn't dispute his decision but just frustrated that I couldn't get it as I really wanted it hes up in Hull way to far for me to go. that's why I wanted it collected
oh well I decided to treat myself. the arcade I grew up playing and thrashed to bits was Track and Field by Konami 1983. well I just brought the PCB and will buy a cocktail flat pack arcade and build it myself. I cant wait im so excited. Im going to be that young teenager again that used to beg my dad to let me go to the arcades after school just to play Track and Field
Wells Gardner is unlikely in the UK. Probably Hantarex. It's no big loss. Just get a generic JAMMA cab. If necessary, make some mods to the control panel and wire the speakers for stereo, but it'll take an MVS board no problem. £250 seems a lot for a generic cab. I wouldn't want to trust a courier, either. If it's worth having, pick it up yourself. Find a friend with a van, or hire one. And I agree with bad_ad, I would have said no to a courier, too - I'd want cash on collection.
yes you have a point. it seemed generic but was rigged to look like MVS and seller even said it was originally a super sidekick cab. I have spoken to a arcade company who is supplying me with a cab for £400 plus brand new flat pack with my choice of CP. CP is already been designed by me
Did he want the money first via any type of Bank Transfer, Paypal, etc, and then go pick it up? Or was cash on collection? A friend of mine won an auction on Ebay that fetched a few hundred quid and the guy wanted a Western Union bank transfer and not Paypal, as apparently he had an issue with them (alarm bells sounding then) plus it was pickup only (no courier). The guy sent the details of the account and the address to pick it up from, yet my friend noticed something was up with the address and after 2 emails that he sent, due to not replying. He later google mapped the address before sending any money and it turned out, it was Paul McCartney's London address, which doesn't show on Google due to his request. Total SCAM! Let's just say Paul McCartney wasn't the seller
Like was said earlier, anyone accepting paypal for a collection only listing is an idiot. Scenario is this: Buy item Pay via paypal Pick up item File paypal dispute Paypal want tracking/delivery confirmation Seller cant provide it Buyer gets refunded and has free item. However, western union is still scam central
