Hi All, Picked up a AES this weekend and whenever the console is turned on I get quite a loud buzz behind the music etc. 187430 Serial Number I am using the Scart lead that came with the console and not an RGB cable. Any suggestions on what the issue could be and how to resolve it ? I have also posted on another forum that is more up to date; http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?268272-Neo-Geo-AES-JAP-Buzzing-static-sound Thanks
I haven't even connected the audio in my home built cable yet. Will do that as soon I managed to sort out my RGB issue. One thing though. Do you connect both audio and video to the same tv without anything inbetween? Reason I ask is that if you for instance connect video to your tv and audio to an external amplifier, you might get audio noise.
It goes; AES > Multi Scart > Scart to HDMI upscaler > TV > Optical Sound Bar I think it is becuase when you are using RCA it is built for Mono and the TV is trying to put it out Stereo so when using the 3.5 mm jack it then works fine as that outputs Stereo Turns out it is the norm for this revision, when using an RCA cable it will try and do Mono so you need to do it via an RGB and 3.5mm scart cable.
I've merged the end posts of the other thread. Sound has nothing to do with a video issue, so you should just stick to your own thread. It's fine to ask in the other thread if they could come over to this one and offer advice, of course. Yes, take all that stuff out of the chain to test first! You could make a SCART (or DIN - rules out your SCART lead) to audio phono cable to test.
I'd try another AES cable. Those stock ones are often of cheap quality with bad or no shielding between audio and video signals. Optimally, each signal should have coaxial pair, including R, G, B, sync/composite and audio. Often they only have leads for the signal plus one common ground lead, which will cause leakage between audio and video signals. In order to minimize this mentioned effect, nowadays I separate audio and video signals into two different cables for all my consoles.
