Been thinking about finally getting a Neo Geo for a while but the joysticks are for right-handed people. Did anyone make a lefty one?
Nope. You could build your own though. That would be kind of weird though. I'm left-handed too but I couldn't play with the stick on the right and buttons on the left.
Try playing cross handed. You need to learn to play cross handed if you live in Mexico. In Mexico, the standard for arcade machine lay outs is p1 has joystick, then buttons, and p2 has buttons then joystick. so it looks like this | ooo ooo | so say you play on P1, and you are stuck on P2 (with the buttons and stick switched) you'd cross your hands over. Give it a try.
A homemade Neo controller/joystick is the easiest model to build because there's no encoder chip. It's all switches, with a common ground and literal pins for each switch. Link: http://gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=controls:neo_geo_controller
I'm left handed and I'm fine playing with it. Think about it, you've played with joypads for loads of consoles all with the stick on the left. Arcade machines always have them on the left. If you want to, building one would be simple, but I agree with the general opinion that it's slightly weird! I'm not sure this really qualifies as rare gaming, either!
Meh its more obscure then rare. Most games I play are with pads or steering wheels not sticks. It just doesn't feel right tapping buttons with my right hand on these type of controllers.
