So I finally caved in and bought an AES, I did the unthinkable and bought it via eBay but it sold for $250.00 plus four games so I thought the price was pretty good. The issue I have is when I hook it up I can hear the music playing but I get no picture. I did clean the cartridges and pins thoroughly so I know that's not the issue. I know it's not the TV as I tried it with my Famicom and Neo Geo CD and they worked perfectly. I also hooked it up via a Sega Genesis AV cable and ended up with the same results. I'm about to take the console apart to give it a good cleaning but does anyone else know of anything I could do? The seller did show pictures of the title screens of all four games so I know it was working at the time he put the auction up. I would rather not have to send it back if possible as he's in Japan and return shipping not to mention the extra time involved is more than I want to deal with right now. Thanks
Have you ever tried looking up a youtuber by the name of lukemorse1? If not, he does quite an in depth look into fixing all sorts of consoles, and for sure he has done some AES stuff. Hopefully this will help ya out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XD-FTg2umt8
If you have a first gen system, try changing the video output capacitors on them. In a couple cases I've seen, the capacitors dried up and prevented a video signal from reaching the a/v jack.
