No, they're 95% of the time mask ROMs, probably by Toshiba, they will always carry the game number. If a game has EPROMs be cautious, if a game has socketted EPROMs be angry. Unless you think you have a prototype or something...
I'd really like to get ahold of a socketed board, without paying the premium for a prototype, for development. Any suggestion on finding one?
Sorry nope, you're probably better off just socketting a retail cart's ROMs. So you're a developer, might you be Charles Doty? Yeesh I can't imagine burning 16-bit EPROM to develop a game, I'd probably split the "ROM" er image up and use 8-bit memory or better yet, emulate until I had something working.
Yep, that's me. I prefer MAME for debugging and stuff, but would occasionally like to test on the real system. The software runs fine on a Neo Geo CD, so I assume the Neo Geo shouldn't be any different.. I can't solder (or desolder) to save my life.
Good to have you aboard! So you have a final product? I'd offer to help you but I'm not sure what it would entail. ROMs may be swizzled and I don't think my Neo alchemy is strong enough to transmute a specific board type from a Nam1975 donor
Ahh I see. You may want to hold off until nearly the end for burninating ROMs, most 16-bit EPROM are OTP and way expensive, eraseable are even more expensive :\
Yep. I figured I'd start with a simple game, so that I could develop my routines. And, with a smaller game, I'm less likely to lose interest. Not to mention, Frog and Flies (Frog Bog) is a lot of fun.
