    Hi,

I have been offered a Neo Geo MVS 1 slot motherboard for 45 euros including shipping costs... is this a good deal (methought it is)?
Apart from the price, I have heard some stories about 1-slot boards having problems with certain games... I have to admit I'm a total newbie when it comes to Neo Geo and JAMMA bussiness, but to what extent are these stories true? Is there any other catch?
It would be logical if I could hook this thing up to a homemade Supergun and play 50e Metal Slug, but now I'm a bit worried :smt022

If the MVS is working, very good deal. (Especially if its NTSC)

Thats something to snag if its working!!! there have been few problems with the board and the probs there have been are easily repairable. If you can make your own supergun go ahead and grab it!!

  5. Err.... if you don't want it, can I have it?

That does sound like a super-good deal, I'd try to find out if it's working and then be all over it like a fat kid on a jelly bean.

well, in case you want it, bear in mind the following:
    1. it's propably EU region (however, depending on revision, swapping the
bios with a multi-region one like http://www.universebios.com/ might be
either very easy or too hard)
    2. As you dont have a TV with SCART socket, hooking up your own
Supergun isnt as easy - you'll need a RGB monitor, a RGB upscan
converter or a RGB-to-NTSC circuit as on http://jrok.com/

Ah, the blessings of scart :smt043

I don't have problems with any of the above, if you're handing off the source to someone :)

    YO!

OK, the MV-1 is the only 1 slot that seems to have problems, namely with Rage of the Dragons, Samurai Spirits V & Metal Slug 5, X, MOTW & perhaps Matrimelee too.....though suprisingly some MV-1 units have no problems, OR you can get a fixed cart in ROTD's case to work fine.

As for region, if you're doing MVS, a unibios is pretty much a must, you can swap them no probs if its a MVS with SOCKETED BIOS, to check which models, and for all MVS needs check http://www.hardmvs.com/

Whatever the case, 49E for any MVS board is a great deal and is prolly worth buying anyway!

You can hook it up to jamma supergun no probs, if your after cheap/quality, www.uberia.co.uk is pretty unbeatable for an affordable supergun in europe.

    Enjoy!

Alright! Got an e-mail from the seller saying that it's the "new small model in a nice black case" - I'm going for it :smt040

Goshdarn, the seller fell silent for a week so I figured the deal fell through... but now he sent me an e-mail like nothing happened :Hangman:
Problem is, I already spent the money on something else (Thunderforce V from Yakumo and a ticket for a Nightwish concert) so I cant afford it right now :smt009

However, if any of you guys is still interested, I can get it for you - the model number is MV-1AX, a small model with socketed BIOS.

I'd take it but I'm concerned about the Euro region. I wonder if it is 50hz as even European Arcade monitors output that. This is probably best for you PAL gamers ;)

uhhhmmm I don't think that arcade machines are any different in Europe or US, guys. There's no PAL/NTSC TV to worry about.

If you say so, I'll take it if its perfectly working :)

It works perfectly (according to the seller). And I'm pretty sure there's no difference between arcade monitors worldwide, the only concern you might have is that American TVs dont have SCART making it somewhat harder to build a Supergun. However, it *does* have a European bios, but as the bios is socketed, just burn a new one to e(e)prom (I assume that you having all that cool pirate equipment have access to a burner :) )

    Sent you a PM.
