NEO-GEO pad does not fit well into Supergun DB15

I have a NEO-GEO pad to be used mainly with a MVS board and a supergun.

If I connect the pad to any of the MVS ports, it fits very well at first try. But when I try to connect this pad to any of the superguns DB15 ports, it never fits right away.
I'm afraid of bending any of the DB15 port pins or ruining the PAD since sometimes it does not fit after a lot of attempts.
Any ideas about something I could do about it?

EDIT: Why I want to use the supergun ports? To use the supergun with other boards than the MVS.

    MVS (top) and Supergun (bottom)

    Thanks.

Could you describe how it doesn't fit "right away?" I think the Neo Geo style joysticks and gamepads tend to have a slightly elongated plug housing than your average DB15 port. The DB15 is much more stout. Do you feel like you simply can't push it in all the way? Because it could simply be that it is in but appears to still be hanging out a bit since it is longer.

I mean it does not fit at all in the first attempt. Like if one/several of the holes of the controller socket were blocked. Like when you try to plug a USB drive in the wrong way.

Then I try to insert it at different angles and sometimes it works and the controller can be inserted into the socket pins. As you said, the MVS sockets are deeper but it's OK.

Maybe it is the angle that you took the pic of the DB15 but the shadows cast by the pins make them look all bent up. The inner edge of the port also looks a little rough compared to the beveled edge on the MVS connector. If you see some scuffing on the controller socket then maybe consider a file to smooth out the supergun port?

I don't know your endgame for the MVS but issues like this were why I went with a 2 slot.

Apart from the photo shadows effect it does not look the pins are bent by looking at the socket. I tried with 4 different DB15 male sockets from 2 superguns and the problems are the same.

Here are some pics of the same connector. Sorry about the focus or reflections, using my cell phone camera.
