Hey I was wondering, for the dreamcast-neogeo link cable, would a european copy of capcom vs SNK work to link with the neo geo Capcom vs snk match of the millenium or does it have to be the US or japanese dreamcast game?
I seem to remember Match of the millenium working with capcom vs snk (i don't have a US / JAP version so must be okay with the PAL one) Although this was all about 8 years ago and I may be getting confused. (actually I may have JAP version of C vs SNK but def not a US one) I do remember having a load of points on Match of the Millenium then using them all on one DC game but then wishing I had used them on another game instead. Again I maybe getting confused as I am old and prone to memory farts Not a very helpful post really! Someone help the guy out I am a waste of time! Rob
Check Sweater Fish Deluxe's NGPC FAQ for all your DC linking queries, and more! However, I do believe the link options were removed from all the UK DC games, and possibly even the American ones too.
I am definite the games will link up to at least one of the US games. either Cap vs SNK or King of Fighters Dream Match because I definitely do not have a JAP copy of KOF Dream Match. The option could be on the UK game of Cap vs SNK as I do recall the actual 'linking' option being in a weird sub menu somewhere and not exactly intuitive. Its a shame my stuff is back at my mums place otherwise i just would have tried it out!
It definately works with some if not all of the US games, there is some guy with a youtube video who shows it working lol Would the linking option be there even when not connected to the ngpc? because I can check it as soon as I find a save point on suikoden lol
The link option will be there, but not selectable IIRC. PS Even Ferarri PAL version had the versus mode available (press Y or something), and there wasn't any European release of that VS cable, pretty sure the PAL games would have all the NGPC connectivity.
I'm currently going through the process of buying up the japanese versions of the linkable games myself. I was thinking of scanning my NTSC-J King of Fighters '99 Evolution manual so the link mode instructions can be preserved. I did a little bit of googling and found the US manual for this game has the link feature removed from the instructions, so it is possibly removed from the US copy of the game too. I don't have a PAL copy of Capcom vs SNK to test at the minute but I will put it on my to do list - I'm contemplating picking up a Naomi and building an adapter (With the help of snapping off the female connector block from a spare DC motherboard soldered to a RS232 cable) to test if the link feature was left there too.
I have a JPN copy of KOF99 Dream Match, and it has the NGPC linkup option. In fact, it also came with a question card asking me (in Japanese) about KOF R2, and if I owned it, when I planned to buy it, etc Interestingly enough, the question card did not have an option for "I do not plan on buying KOF R2"
I just loaded up Capcom vs SNK PAL in nullDC and there is no NGPC link option in the Secret Mode, sorry! but it is present in the NTSC-U version and the NTSC-J version I wonder if the Naomi version has it?
Oh wow I had completely forgotten about this thread as i so often do lol I'll probably end up buying all the games which use it when I have more money haha, it's a shame that the PAL version doesn't support it but never mind, it's not the end of the world And yes Adam K, it was you I was talking about haha small world, i've become quite a fan of your videos
I've also been trying to get all the link up games, I seen this thread a while ago but my PAL copy of Capcom vs SNK is sealed, perhaps the cable needs to be connected? probably not seeing as it has it in other versions, I cant remember if I even tried it with the JPN edition?? The latest game I bought was Cool Cool Jam but yet to link it with Cool Cool Toon.
I've been buying up complete copies including registration cards etc which is somewhat expensive Your best bet is to buy cart only as it literally halves the price of many games and/or use Flavor's flashmasta + ROM. I think with the linkable Dreamcast GD-ROM they don't support VGA either so it is easier to make your own selfboot with VGA enabled. I've still been buying the linkable GD-ROM regardless of no VGA too :O Figure it ouuuut! Only shame is we rarely see you use your items I'm sure many people would find a walkthrough / tutorial or demonstration of stuff in action interesting.
Back when I made a lot of those videos I didn't have a way to record the Dreamcast via VGA. I do now. If the point is to see game footage, I prefer it look good. Thank you for watching by the way.
