Yeah... Yeah, I know, Neogeo is hard to do. I was just getting all excited with these Everdrive carts because they opened up a whole world of game libraries at my fingertips. But hopefully, Atari Jaguar can realistically happen.
neo geo the system is just to pricy and the fact that not many own it is would make developing an everdrive neo geo a bad idea
I honestly think there are a lot of NeoGeos out there. Not only AES but also (consolised) MVS. There wouldnt be all those Multicarts if there is no market for them. But as Krikzz has stated he has no interest in the NeoGeo (you are missing out  ) its pointless to discuss...
i think that there is a pretty large Neo Geo community out there, maybe not as big as genesis or super nintendo, but people that are actually into playing games on those actual consoles are pretty few too. people and retro consoles are becoming fewer and fewer with things like the Wii offering lots of retro games on a shiny new console is enough for the average retro gamer. people like us need more. that being said, the Ever drive could cost a lot sure, but Neo Geo people are used to paying more for everything we just knew that going into the system. we don't like to pay more for everything, but that is the way it is. i would personally pay up to $500 for an Everdrive for a Neo Geo and i am sure just about everyone with a Neo would be right there with me. if people are dropping $250 for the MVS convertor (all that does is make it so you can collect games on a little less expensive scale, but even MVS is getting overpriced) and that is doing pretty well, people would flock to this! just last month on ebay Andro Dunos sold for a retarded $599! and the worst part is that the game sucks, its not much better than a bad Genesis shump! if that isn't bad enough, Pulstar sold for $1,400 in may!!! seriously?!?! an everdrive would be a warm welcome to many Neo owners who want to play many games that are simply out of reach and to be able to put the entire Neo Geo library on one cart is worth a high price tag. as the saying goes "if you build it, they will come". i just hope that Neo Geo owners dont get brushed under the rug we want to give our money to anyone who could make this!!!
I don't think the lack of a AES flash cart has to do with its popularity. It has to do with how hard it is to do. I mean the Virtual Boy even got a flash cart at one point in time. Is it even possible to do a proper flash cart for the AES? I have heard its not, but I have no idea myself.
There's one in production. Actual status: prototyping. I can't say more about it, leave it as it is but be happy with this news
I was wondering about the audio in the NGDev games. It didn't seem to be triggered samples in loop-like patterns like in the SNK neogeo games, rather, it seemed to be streaming like low fi cd audio.
That ugly 100% compatiblity MVS to AES adapter has sold 55 units since last year and its 400 canadian dollars. I think price is no object here, its the NEOGEO-community after all, just add limited edition label on it and only produce 100 units, you will sell them all in one year 999 dollars.
Why the secrecy? No one else is making one to my knowledge so they don't really have much competition to fear. Secrecy in many cases = vaporware. I hope I am wrong, because it would be something I would be interested in buying and possibly selling.
It's not vaporware. I'm not telling because the guy making it asked me not to. He doesn't want people getting to his PM full of questions, like I did. I never did such a thing like creating expectations here before and I put my hand on the fire to say this is solid. Even if it takes long. I can tell all I know about it. It will be AES first. It will not run NeoGeo Dev Team games. It will work with all the SNK released games. It will have a half gigabyte bank, so CD games could be loaded. And uses ddr sdram. That's all I know. He said he will announce here in this forum when it's ready for shipping.
Do you know if there's any sort of ETA at all, even just a rough guess as to whether it'll be in the next year or so?
I've asked that myself and he said it's all in the air so far. ETA is "when it's done". The price is also unknown but I would bet around $300-500
cool, any information is good, this sounds exceptional if the cd game loading could be implemented too, not got an AES myself as i have an MVS cab but quite frankly i would possibly purchase one on the strength of this flash cart alone, also would purchase one for the MVS too since i would never have to open it to swap carts again so much better when were having a party etc. if you do get more information your allowed to post at some point then i look forward to it
Thanks for sharing what you have already, veggav As far as Neo Geo goes, $500 for a cart that plays all games seems like a bargain.
Well even if any everdrive had to cost $500, considering they play all the games too, would seem like a bargain - but realistically no one would shell out $500 for it, which is the reason they sell for much cheaper. So I don't expect a similar device for the Neo Geo cost much more, at least not for the simple reason that at $500 it "is still a bargain".
$99USD for a 161-in-1 Multicart is more of a bargin. Sure it doesn't have every game but it has the bulk of them.
