I was just curious if anyone has any idea what you'd expect to pay for a NeoGeo MVS PCB board. I recently bought one for 48$ (including shipping) and wanted to know if this is more/less/about what you'd expect to pay for one. It's a single slot board. From comparing with pictures on HardMVS.com it appears to be the first, an MV-1. It's the only 1 slot model that also has a goldish shiney covering by the cartridge slot. Still gotta buy cartridges, but then again I still need a JAMMA Supergun to play it or my SF2 Hyper Fighting.
Your best bet would be to head over to neo-geo.com and weed through the posts there. I can say that I probably wouldn't have hesitated to buy a working 1-slot at under $50.
Well from everything I've seen so far it looks like it was a pretty good deal. I also picked up the MVS KoF99' cartridge for 25$ shipped so I'll be able to use the NeoGeo once I have a setup to play JAMMA. I couldn't really find any MVS carts much cheaper than that. Plus it's actually a game I like alot. Still need to get one of the Metal Slug games though.
If you can, spring for an MV-1C. It's the newest revision of the 1 slotter and compatible with all games (some MV-1's and MV-1F variants had some issues playing Rage of the Dragons and Matrimelee). MV-1C's can be had for around $150 or so...they had some on n-g.com about a year ago (NIB - never used) for $175. I used to have an MV-1F and it was cool in that you had controller ports built into the board. Those can be had for around $100 or so, maybe less on a good day. Personally, to me the ultimate MVS board is the 2 slot. It works with all games, has controller ports, and even a memory card reader (in some instances) all in a decent package for around $200-$150.
If you ever want to install the unibios, which allows you to customise the region you play the game from (e.g. more blood in JP versions) without having different region games, as well as allowing you to play the AES or MVS version, then you want (I think) either a multi slot board, an MV-1 or MV-1a as they have socketed rather than soldered bios' and they are of the right number of pins Its all explained here http://unibios.free.fr/
I doubt I'll ever buy RotD or Matrimelee. So this should be fine for now and was pretty cheap. I've thought about the UniBios myself, esspecially if I ever grab KoF2000 or some of the other ones that has stupid censors unless it's japan region. That and cheats. But I'll worry about that after I have a Supergun.

I found that site before, and I used it to identify what version I bought. By the way, still thinking about my offer? I've seen various sales recently of 1 slot boards, even one the same model as mine. All were quite a bit more than I paid. =)
