All 1 slots and 2 slots need 3A or less on the +5v line. The +5v mod is simple, on boards where the opamps get power from the 7805 you just remove the 7805 and bridge the +5v output pin or rail to the primary +5v rail so the opamps dont need the +12v to be present to get power. Of course if this is going in a cab just use an arcade spec PSU.
Too bad the 7805 voltage regulators are there to reduce the noise on the audio. Take them out and the op amps will amplify processing noise comming from the 5v supply rail.
People like me (Headphones maniacs) are quite good on picking noises on audio. Otherwise it goes unnoticed by most people who will be playing using speakers from their TV set mostly. So most people will only notice the processing noise if it's too strong. But then most arcade manufacturers didn't bother with filtering so on a lot of original vintage games you can hear processor noise on the speakers in the cab. For botleg boards it's the norm lol.
