I am looking to attempt a front light mod using the front light of a broken original Nintendo DS. A similar mod has been done with a Gameboy Color below. I don't have a multimeter and am not familiar with the internals of the NeoGeo Pocket, but can follow pictures/guides/instructions and am handy with a soldering iron. Does anyone know a current guide for this mod? NeoGeo pocket info seems to be scarce on the net.
I have done this mod (with the light from a GBA into the NGPC) and it is pretty easy and really worth doing. You lose about two rows of pixels. The most delicate part is disassembling the screen and light from the GBA (or DS). The rest is easy. Here is the guide I followed. Believe it was written by Xian Xi so all credit to them (I am merely spreading the word) Lots of pics and easy to follow. Recommend reading through it a couple of times before you start: http://home.cogeco.ca/~logicdustbin/Front Light DIY for NGPC.pdf
Also I took a fair few pics of my system as I went so I can always forward those if they would be of help
That would be helpful. Other than the link you sent, there are very few references to this mod online.
get a multimeter also the link to the PDF is very slow for some reason, I've re uploaded it for people having troubles downloading it http://www.slot1gamer.com/FrontLEDNGPC.pdf
