    Hi Guys!!!

    I need some advice please?......

I have just brought a NES off ebay. £10 (6 games, 2 controllers, 1 gun Still in the box!)
    Nese-001 (GBR)

As soon a i plugged it in... you guessed. Red flashing light and flashing screen
So i have taken it apart cleaned the 72Pin and the cartridges

    Plugged it back in............Same again.............
So i cleaned it again....... :mad-new:

Now what is happening is that the red light is a solid colour. but the screen is just white. and there is no way of changing
    the screen???

Is this down to needing new 72pin? I just didn't want to spend £11 if its not going to help?

    Any Advice?
I have attached a photo for you!!

    Thanks guys!!!!

Not sure it's the same problem you are having, but could you make a pic of the power adaptor included?

I once had the same problem, after troubleshooting it seemed I had connected the wrong power adaptor, can't remember if it was SNES or MD.
But as soon as I had the original NES adaptor connected it all worked perfectly again.

    £10!? What a bargain.

From what I've read the flashing red light is something to do with the lockout chip not properly communicating with the board, and there's a simple way to disable it by removing one of it's legs. Maybe have a look into that and consider it? Then you can play games from other regions too :)

If the flashing has stopped then the lockout chip situation is OK so it shouldn't be necessary to disable the lockout chip.

Like port187 I have seen the NES show a white screen when using the wrong power adapter (in this case my friend was using some random Atari adapter that did not have enough amperage). But obviously you have the right one...

It could still be a dirty/bad cart connector, have you tried cleaning the other side of it (where the connector and motherboard come together)? You have tried all of the games, right?

It could also be a failing PSU.

    Power supplies fail too :)

as Bad Ad84 says maybe you have the original psu but it could be failing too, check it with a multimeter.
