I was modding the lockout chip leg right now, and instead of cutting the leg i tried desoldering it and lifting it, well the leg endded up tearing out of the chip end, when i turn on the NES now the power light wont blink even without a game (which is good) but i cant get it to seem to read a game, do you think this is because that chip? the chip really does not look damaged the leg came out clean so im thinking its the pins that are old\dirty and nothing to do with the lockout chip.

    Please helop thanks

Next time(if there will be a next time). Don't de-solder it, just get a tiny pair of wire cutters and snip it. Then bend pin back and forth till it snaps off. Works a charm! If you ever pull the pin out of the chip, don't worry, cause the chip no longer functions anyways:thumbsup:.

You might find refurbishing an original connector works better. The "new connectors" are too tight and often don't work when the cartridge loader is pressed down.

I tried replacing the connector in a NES I had that wouldn't work with a new one. Turns out that wasn't the problem with it anyway. But I noticed the new connector when the cart was not pushed down the lock-out chip would work fine but pushed down it didn't. I think the CPU in that NES is fried. Not really sure how that would have happened either.
