I was looking around the internet for weird and interesting things and on one of my many journeys though cyber space I discovered a thing called the "Mission Control" nes dev kit. It is apparently a home-brew dev kit that was built by rocket science production before Nintendo had an official development kit for the nes or just a cheaper alternative to an nes dev kit. /\ what the kit looked like (picture from devkits.handheldmuseum.com/NES_MissionControl.htm) I know their is a few modern dev kits out their such as the CopyNES from retrousb but I am wondering if their is any more information on the "Mission Control" dev kit, if their is schematics for it some where or higher resolution images , it looks like it would be an interesting thing to build or at-least attempt to build.
Not sure whats in the NES itself but If you can source the chips and such one can fairly guess whats connected to where. or at least get some datasheets, then rebuild the schematics as far as we get with logical connections and the backside of the board (see wbsite ) Then, Whats in the nes ? A lockout chip? a proto GPU? or nothing? just some Controller IO and all go to the blue connector? Good luck anyway, nice idea btw.
Yeah, hehe... You see that picture of the back of the board? I think the fun part would be following the hundreds of wires that are the same color... Although I guess it'd still be easier than reverse-engineering a real circuit board... That's my system, but I didn't get any schematics or other details about it when I got it... I can post up higher-resolution pics if you want to see more detail of it. I think it's all off-the-shelf stuff, and I believe it's just wired into the cartridge connector inside the NES...
