I have an original front loader from my childhood thats never really had a problem. Recently a lot of games where having trouble reading. Get the standard flashing power light etc.

My gf bought an everdrive for me for x-mas. Shipping took awhile and I just got it last week. At the same time I decided to put in a new 72 pin connector. I swapped the connector in and loaded up the everdrive. I get a solid red light but no composite video? I switch cartridge to something that I know worked a few weeks ago. Same thing, no video but solid red light.

So I'm thinking that its issue with my 72pin swap. I take it back apart and everything looks perfect that I can tell. I went ahead and purchased another frontloader...

Any ideas why this wouldn't work? Also the ppu gets really hot. Voltage regulator seemed a little low on the output side, so I replaced it. I tried a different power brick (model 1 genesis). I doubt this is it, but is possible for an everdrive to brick a console? I've never heard of this but just throwing options out. Idk had 0 problems swaping the pin connectors out. So I like to say its not that but who knows.

And ideas on what I can check or troubleshoot?

Did you replace the capacitor too if you did replace the voltage regulator?

I had problems with a new pin connector, until I cleaned it a few times. The only game that gives me problems is a copy of the Mafat Conspiracy, though that's a cart issue.

Some new 72 pin connectors are bad mine was new but not very good.

No av output sound like you did not power it on when unplugged to discharge the caps.

I don't remember discharged them. The unit had been unplugged and sitting for a few weeks. Didn't even think about it. But that could be it. I received my "new" frontloader on friday and the everdrive worked with zero issues. So it definitely comes down to me messing something up with 72pin swap.
