NES PPU problem

    You can't disable an 7404 chip. Cutting the power pins won't disable it.

    Remove the original chip completely and connect the new ones using wires... I recommend you get a DIP chip though.

    well DIP chips are much more expensive then the other ones, so il just connect it using wires.

    Sorry for the jack...but I have a similar issue, with no other similes on the net. One of my NES's plays SMB1 perfectly, but it is missing sprites for MegaMan 2&3 and SMB freezes as soon as the title screen ends and the game board begins. Not an analog circuit problem or lockout problem like 99% of other issues on the net. Also no chips are hot, and I cant find any cold solder joints. This NES holds sentimental value (I have had it since I was 6 Years old).:banghead:

    It sure "feels" like there's a WRAM problem (6116 chip which is used by CPU as work RAM)...

    my 74HCU04N has just arrived im starting the replacment process now, il give news.

    EDIT: YAY IT WORKS, Finally i have my NES back :) I would like to thank all of you who helped me you cant imagine how greatfull i am and i cant say this enough but THANK YOU, THANK YOU, and THANK YOU.
