i've visited a old movie renting place ( don't know how it's called in english) , that have really interesting things in it. they where still renting old games (lnes , snes genesis, saturn,...) in perfect condition (i've asked them if all their games have their manuals , map and boxes, and they've said that everything was in mint condition)

i saw a bunch of SEALED nes games for 10 canadians bucks (!!!) , the best titles where tengen gautlet , life force and the guardian legend. (how can someone pay for those games SEALED? ) i think ill got them soon , we never know when someone can take them ! :-D

they had japanese games too, as well as pirate games. that was a really strange place to say the truth, but i loved it ! :-D

i've checked a book of all their games for rent (we never know , maybe ill find a little treasure and i could ask them if i could buy it fo a resonnable price. ) i've checked the nes list first , some interesting games poped in my head while reading the list. They had the japanese mario bros 2 (certainly a pirate) color a dinoaur , tengen tetris ...wow! then i saw this title: Punch-Out 2 .

Did i dreamed ? (this was a too cool place to be true anyway :smt043 )

i've searched over google and found nothing.

does ''punch-out 2'' is only the second version of the game? (the first is mike tyson's punch-out. )

    or is it true?

  2. There are 2 version of Punch Out for the NES. The first version features Mike Tyson in the game. He was removed in later versions, and the game was then know as just Punch Out.

Afaik, I think it had something to do with his rape trial, so Nintendo pulled his character from the game.

    OTT?

Anyhow, Cahaz, you might have hit the jackpot! I remember various factory sealed NES games going on ebay for $400 and up, apiece! :smt030
(of course those were the good games, but who knows)

Oh and it goes without saying that if they sell any Saturn stuff let me know and I might be interested :smt033

For sealed thats not bad, also considering that nowhere neer me rents out old games, i say your very lucky to have a video store that rents out old games of such variety.

    Over the top...

  8. Say Cahaz, if you return there any time soon, would you mind seeing if they are selling that Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 cart (which is indeed a pirate, as SMB2 was only released on Famicom Disk System)??

i've heard that myke tyson's punch out was rare , but i see it more often than Punch-Out!

i've heard about a sequel to punch-out on nes , named myke tyson intergalactical punch, or something else like that, i've heard that a proto was found. true or false?

Aw man, some people are so lucky. Hey, if you feel like selling any of the stuff you get, just remember your good friends at ASSEMbler :-D

  11. I think the Mike Tyson variation will be slightly rarer than the 'rerelease'; especially if it's boxed.

Suppose it's an interesting peice of gaming history to have both versions.

Out of interest, did the Mike Tyson version get a Japanese release, or was it UK and US only?

Yeah of course Mike Tyson's got a jap release,Mike Tyson was absolutely massive and I mean massive in Japan, his fight in Tokyo was one of the biggest events ever and it turned out to be pretty significant too,as he got knocked out by Buster Douglas.(Tyson getting knocked out in 1990 was a big thing, back then he was considered invincible.)

I have the jap version of the game. There is a ultra rare version of tyson's Punch out in Jpan on a gold cart which was a nintendo competition prize which is worth several hundred dollars, that is the version to have. :smt045

Another point about the jap release of Mike Tyson's Punch Out !!!! is that the jap game is completely in English and astually comes with a dictionary for the japanese, converting all the english phrases in the game into japanese for the japs who bought it.An intresting point this and shows the time and effort Nintendo made in these days for the game to be released there. It got released there cause of the massive demand and localising it with jap text was not really an option for some reason, don't ask me why as it would have cost nintendo less to do this rather than print all these dictionary's.Alot of used copies have these dictionaries missing, for obvious reasons. The jap version of Super Punch Out was fully localised but was only available on the Nintendo Power system.(The flash cart service for the Super Famicom)

if you search something in particuliar, just tell me the name of it and i could check if they have it next time i'll go here . the video club that im talking about isn't in my city, ill try to go here as soon as possible though, because i need parts to repair some things, and those parts cannot be found in my little city , i pass by the too-cool-to-be-true video club at the same time. ;-)

(WARNING! not every games are 10 bucks , i just whant to say it before you get a surprise. ;-) )

no problems , i think they have 2 or 3 copies of it . so, one for me , and maybe one for you? :-D

i don't know why , but like i've said earlier , games aren't always 10 bucks , i've ask them how would they sell dragon warrior 2 (the game is complete and mint) and they 've said 20 bucks . sure , the game is classic a bit rare and is a rpg , but sealed nes games are 10 bucks so that's a bit strange. dragon warrior 2 isn't mario bros 2 (j) though, so i can't tell which price they would sell it (if they whant to sell it) .

They dropped Mike Tyson not due to the rape trail (that was much later) but due to his divorce from Robyn Givens, as she told the press Tyson used to beat her.

Ninty didnt want to spoil their image (bear in mind this was 1987 and Nintendo was still a bad egg in many parents and the medias eyes)

From what I`ve read it wasnt so much they dropped him but they simply didnt want to renew the sponsorship deal.

eh....nintendo droped him because a) he lost his title and b) mike tyson had no intrest in renewing his contract with nintendo.

it had nothing to do with the rape trail or any wife beating.

Yes,Nintendo only dropped Mike Tyson because he lost the heavyweight championship and it would have looked silly printing instructions which looked out of date,ie saying yo could fight the real heavyweight champ.

That and the fact that Tyson had more pressing sponsorship deals to try and secure after being knocked on his arse....literally :smt022 A shame cause I love Mike Tyson and think he was the most powerful heavyweight of all time, his punching power was simply awesome in the eightis.A pure joy to watch for the minute or so his fight's lasted.Unfortunately he is a bit of a has been now,and shouldn't tarnish his name by fighting and getting knocked out by nobody's,and no I don't mean lennox lewis.
