I have a small request for anyone in the UK, who works NESes. My friend gave me an NES he got from work, said it wouldn't power on. It was held together with duct tape of all things... He says if you can get it working, you can have it. Great, because I currently don't own an NES. My initial thought was that the screw posts were broken, which was why it was taped together, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that all the screw posts were intact. What's actually happened, is someone has taken it apart to try and fix it, been unsuccessful and then couldn't be arsed to screw the thing together again. Literally EVERY screw in this thing is missing. Not just the housing screws. So I take a look inside to see if there are any obvious reasons as to why it doesn't power on, and my attention is instantly drawn to the 7805. It seems whoever had this thing apart, maybe tried to replace the 7805, but couldn't get it desoldered. Big blobs of solder on the legs and the trace for the output side was completely gone. No problem. I fired up my soldering iron, and had it repaired within 5 minutes. So now, my request is, does anyone in the UK who works on these on a regular basis, have a set of screws they can send me, so I can clean this thing up and screw it together properly? I plan on using this as my own personal system (having never owned one before) Cheers!
This may help you find the right kind. https://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12846#p148310 And random googling turned up this. http://www.dkoldies.com/nes-replacement-screws-12ct/ I think people getting consoles missing screws is probably fairly common due to people trying to do things like replace the cartridge connector.
Yeah it is a 1/2 inch (12mm) #2 philips machine screw. A decent hardware store should carry them and probably cost pennies each...
