I know this is something you guys get asked a lot but I need a little help if anyone can help me here. I have been working on getting into making nes reproductions for fun. I have tried a ton of different stuff and found something that work for me and some that don't, but I can not get a game to work yet. What could I be doing wrong? Here is whats going on with the last one. I opened a Q bert cart removed the two chips looks like the bored was in great shape after I was done. Burned my two chips placed them into the cart tried to run without soldering them in did not work. Soldered them in and now on the screen I get fuzz or some lines but never a picture just black screen with some lines like its trying but cant get anywhere. I have burned the chips with just the files and then I burned the files using http://www.kevinselwyn.com/ReadNES/ to make them x2 to fill up the chips.

What did you do with the highest address lines? Q-Bert is CNROM so it's two 32KB chips, you have 64KB chips right?

Find the highest address line in the data sheet, solder it to ground on both chips.

I thought by using http://www.kevinselwyn.com/ReadNES/ I would not have to do that. That must be the problem I will try that now. Would the pin be A15? Can i just run a wire off it or do I need to pull it from the hole and run it to the ground?

Duplicating the rom means you can connect the last address line to either ground or vcc - as the rom is in both the lower and upper halves of the chip. However, if the last address line is not connected to anything then its floating - which is neither "on" or "off" and will cause issues.

You need to lift if only if on the PCB there is a trace connecting it to something. If the pin isnt connected to anything, then just solder it to the back of the PCB to the pins on the chip(s).

Alright so I am guessing this pin will change from game to game? If so what is the best way of finding out what pin to ground, or is it always going to be the 1st pin on the bottom of the right side?

Its always going to be the last address line if you are using chips double the size you require.
