This site has a pretty nice list of Waixing releases.

Ive played a ROM of it. Almost exactly like Resident Evil Gaiden. It is actually pretty crappy, but I would love to grab an actual cart of it just for the fuck of it.

I want a Waixing Tales of Phantasia cartridge :(

Seen a good few Pokemon, Zelda, Final Fantasy VII, Dragon Quest VIII and Chrono Trigger cartridges sell on various auction sites and stuff. Only ever seen two Biohazard cartridges up for grabs (one falling into my hands and the other into Dot50Cal's. But these were recently, so long after the dump of it started floating around in... what? 2005?) Wish I could get ahold of a box and stuff, though. Seems like there are several variants/prints of these things.

It's too bad Waixing is such a bitch to order from when it comes to games. You have to go to the post office (obviously in China), fill out a special form, write out by hand (in Chinese) all the games you want to buy, pay for it on the spot in person, then send it off to get ordered.

I was going to get my cousin to get some games for me, but once I found out how much of a pain in the ass it was, I just said screw it and asked for him to look for GB/GBC clones instead. :)

PS: Apparently they don't like selling games outside of China too! When my cousin asked, the rep said they don't do it because law enforcement from other countries like to "order" items like a customer and just use them as evidence to sue for copyright infringment or something like that. As well as use customs to stop shippments. Plus with all the government preasure to make China "look" good, with world trade, products, etc, its not worth it for them to do so.

All their games suck anyway. Both them and Nanjing choose games that look interesting and peek your interests to see on the NES if you see still shots of it, but if you ever play anything you're be sorely disappointed. It's happened to me numerous times already cuz the shots on Rinkaku's site look good. That Zelda Minish cap for NES for example, god does that thing reek.

    That's a great list, there's quite a few on there I hadn't seen before.

Waixing has a lot more games than he lists. The most complete lists I've seen however, are all in Chinese which makes identifying titles harder. Also, many are out of print too.

The media word was that it didn't "deliver" as far as horror goes, so the port was axed. Instead, we got the pseudo-RPG "Resident Evil Gaiden" (which according to some was whipped together real quick to fulfill some sort of deal with Nintendo as far as publishing a portable RE goes. Probably to avoid having to submit for a new license/title or something... I dunno... guess no one knows.)

There are several videos available on YouTube and The Horror is Alive, showing RE1 GBC in action. (It's pretty awesome looking, as far as a GBC game goes, at least. Especially with the use of sprite scaling and full transfer of backgrounds and such!)

Ive always hoped a beta or proto of GBC Resident Evil will surface someday, would be interesting to play. On another note, am i the only person that actually likes RE5??

Nah. A lot of people likes it. It's just that a lot of the vocal and supposedly hardcore Resident Evil fans are a bit like Star Wars fans.

Why would a ROM of a Chinese/Hong Kong original be considered "leaked"? I wouldn't exactly label it a leak that someone dumped a completely half-common Waixing Famicom Pirate Original. Anyway, ROM is fairly easy to find, cartridges pop up every now and then if you keep your eyes open.

I personally haven't seen these cartridges pop up on any places aside from Chinese websites, and even then, rather sparingly for some reason. Perhaps they are popular?

In any case, playing these games on an emulator really sucks because most are really buggy. I'm not saying the games are bug free, just that the most annoying and obvious ones that people grip about are usually emulator induced and not present on a real cartridge. Heh, It just kind of anoys me that so many people play "Teh RoMz" that it becomes assumed that <xxx> game crashes and glitches at <xxx> area always due to bad programming (Since we all know emulators are flawless (^_^);).
