I Bought a job lot of NTSC Front loading NES consoles of eBay listed as Non Working, i have managed to get all of them work bar one. This one console im getting audio but no video via the side phone connections, i cant test the aerial connection as i no longer have a compatible TV set. I have it hooked up to my XRGB Mini and the 'Input' Light doesnt illuminate when i turn the device on so it getting a signal from the 'Video' phono connection at all, on my other consoles this 'Input' light illuminates when i turn the NES on Any ideas what might be the cause of this issue of getting no video just audio?
Have you opened it up at all? 30 year old wires (and if I'm not mistaken, they're pretty fragile looking on the inside) could have snapped, meaning you'd need to solder something back together.
I had the same/similar problem with one of mine. Audio no video, tracked it down to a corrodded trace. Bypassed that and back to normal.
Was than inside the metal shielding of the rf & A/V unit? As i have noticed there seem to be 4 solder points that come from the metal sheild box and go off elsewhere on the PCB
Have tried looking at all traces in the RF box of the NES but cant see anything that looks out of place, have reflowed all solder points but hasnt helped
