Anyways, now with genesis,SNES, and NES on the wii's virtual console. and the wii's own pointing abilities. Its only a matter of time till Nintendo brings out 'light gun games'. I definitely think Duck Hunt is coming. Plus, Tin Star, which used the super scope, is listed on the ESRB website as a upcoming VC title. Still I always wanted a light gun. Never did get around to owning one. But, they were it was always just really cool to see them in the display cases. What were classics that you guys would want to see come out?
Would be good to see some oldskool light gun games out on the Wii (and some new stuff too) I'd love to see Duck Hunt, and even though it was released on the PlayStation Boint Blank would be a great series too.
Games I'd want are The Snatcher (Sega CD) version that was compatible with the meancer might be cool. Then again, considering only one version had the light gun compatiblity it might not be neccesary. Still apprantly its a good game none the less. Also Yoshi safari, just b/c I'm a mario completist and emulators and light gun games don't have that feeling of accuracy. also, has any one seen the prototype 'wii zapper' kinda looks screwed up to me. But I dunno. http://cache.kotaku.com/images/2006/05/wiizapper.jpg
I thought that gun should've been released. The thing is, VC games DON'T use the remote. So will they rewrite the light gun games just so they will? I'm not too sure on that one. Lethal Enforcers would be pretty neat. Oh, and Mad Dog McRee - but I really don't see that one happening as a ROM download! heh.
I assume they could write an extra emulation layer to manage the point-click shots, and turn them into the required information needed Since the lightgun "reads" the screen, the Wii could manage the coords of the "white spot" frame in the emulator, and combine it with the user's XY coord info provided by the Wiimote and from there it's just a single comparison per axis ;p
They will have to do something since I don't believe any of those games will work on Plasma or LCD tv's.
Well tin star is confirmed for release on VC. I never play it, but its description "he goal of the game is to shoot all the bandits with the standard SNES controller, Super Scope or the SNES Mouse" seems to suggest that using a regualr controller just isn't fun
the support for the SNES mouse automatically means that it has a way of detecting X, Y clicks without need to simulate and trick the "white spot" frame.
hmmm.... good point. Well, if were lucky and that game proves to be popular, perhaps nintendo would be more inclined to work on simulating the light gun. Of course it seems a natural fit to provide light gun games
Gumshoe actually sounds really interesting. It's like mario or something but you shoot the guy and he jumps cause he has to doge the bullets. and as for yoshi safari. Alot of people seemed to like it, the way you'd like yoshis story. its amazing at a young age, but not challenging enough. I wonder if when they make an action replay it'll be able to make cheat codes for VC games. E.g. make ai harder for yoshi safari. (sidenote: I'm gonna email that question to 1up)
It really not hard to add support, all nintendo would have to do is have an update for the virtual console.
Shoot, anyways I overlooked some of the titles coming to VC in addition to Tin Star. Duck Hunt and Wild Gunman are on ESRB's website as well. So I guess that confirms support for the light gun. I'm hoping systems like sega CD also get their share of light gun games though. as only NES and SNES games seem to be coming.
That might be the case with the original zapper because of the way it worked, but if they used the Wiimote it should work just fine right?
I also came across this as I was making my 2007 list of games to purchase. http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product_id=T000521
There is no reason the Zapper games would not work since the Wii will just simulate it with the Wii remote and convert what it recieves from the sensor bar. Pretty Simple and straight forward.
