Is there ANY way at all to get a netlink cart working on a PAL system using an action replay to boot the NTSC netlink software? I need the AR in to boot the disk, and I need the netlink modem in to use the netlink (duh). I don't really want to hardware modify my saturn, but is there any other option?
after you boot, pull out AR and insert netlink cart? of coz this probably kill(?) your saturn's cart slot but you never know~
I was seriously considering doing that, I'm pretty sure it wont kill the cart slot, I just thought the system would hard-lock. I don't actually have an AR yet, getting one if a few days. They should have put a pasthrough on the top of the AR for this kind of thing
I'd imagine the data addresses for NL would work if one were to create a splitter or a pass-through for the AR.. I might have to try this our of curiosity...
That'd be pretty interesting, seeing a netlink working on a totally unmodified PAL console would be cool as. I've got my home dial-in exchange working with the dreamcast so I can use broadband over the dial-up modem, and I wanna try it with the saturn next. edit: I've got the NL keyboard PS/2 adapter but I heard that's totally no-go on PAL consoles no matter what you do. I'll have to put it to the test because I'm sceptical about that.
Couldn't you just region mod your saturn? Then you shouldn't need the AR to boot the disk, and can just leave the netlink in right?
I prefer to leave my Saturn unmodded and just keep using the AR for region stuff. The Netlink is the only exception to the rule, and I like to consider all the other goofy options I might have before just doing the old "region mod" and calling it a day. Seemed like a fun project.
rip the netlink software, convert it to EUR, burn it to cd-r, buy a sega boot disc and run both of them on your unmodified saturn with the netlink inserted in the cart slot. Will this work ?
