What the fuck have you done? I have no idea who you are, and all you're doing here is flaming people who have done something. So, before you possibly do more damage to the scene, I'd advise you to shut the fuck up.

    Drama drama drama.

    Cool and smart exploit.

However the people who wrote all homebrew up to this point, wouldn't be suprised if they didn't choose to release as MTW said.

Can we now stop bitching at eachother..?

I came in here very interested in the start of the 360 homebrew scene and instead I get to watch MTWomg spew a bunch of shit over three pages, what the fuck?

If you weren't aware 360 piracy is already possible without this exploit, so what does that have anything to do with it? An exploit to allow unsigned code to be run isn't going to encourage piracy when piracy is already possible, you're an idiot.

It can make piracy much more easier, I thought you would've known that..

More opportunities to run pirated games = more pirates.

Can everyone stop bitching at eachother now and get back on topic? You keep on this topic, and it's never going to end..

First off I got mame by asking one guy, he gave it to me no hassle, was it my problem NO, if the dev didn't want it leaked then he shouldn't of gave it out plain and simple. Yes I did trade that so that I could get other tools and such but I NEVER sell anything period. You guys sell, I just trade. No I didn't get skipper to leak me anything I got him to trade there is a big difference. And besides you got it some how and in turn sold it right, what makes you any different then me besides the fact that I don't try to rip people off and I just trade it. I mean it's not YOURS, you didn't create it, maybe you should ask THQ if you can have it first right isn't that how you think when it comes to other people stuff, or is that just the circles stuff? You guys sure didn't have a problem trying to sabotage the release of this exploit.

No body cares about piracy it's already on the 360 so this really is about homebrew weather you guys want tobelieve it or now. I dont see how this is going to make piracy any easier then a dvd flash that take less the 10 minutes from start to finish. All the homebrew thats out there now will be nothing compared to what the everyday devs will right once they figure the system out. And all these super secret full hacks yadda yadda yadda DO NOT exist if they are never seen or talked about. And again this topic needs to be cleaned.

Well you would be surprised, but honestly piracy at the point its at, It can't be easier... most 360 games are already larger than a single layer dvd. If lets say we hacked the console to further point where running games off the hdd is possible. It will not affect piracy, the whole point of piracy is to have a product that has equal functionality for less or no money. Currently where I live I can see piracy, so can you in Canada probably but the release of this hack won't change the way or the amount of "pirating" that occurs since you could either have a flashed xbox that can take your cheap games online, or a HARDWARE hack that doesn't allow to go online, pirate I swear will choose the firmware.

Also byfar the console that is pirated the most is already the 360, the wii which has a full system hack you don't see as many games or pirated stuff for it where I live.

Also further proof that statement is pretty rubish, down here every xbox1 they sold in this country, or nearly all of them has a modchip in them (hardware installed modchip), with the 360 you don't even need a modchip and its exactly the same amount of piracy, saying this hack isn't released because of that is not a logical argument.

What are you talking about it can't get easier?

You put it on your hard drive and launch it. I'm sure many people who didn't flash their firmware will get there boxes modded if it ever became like Xbox 1, and they'd just launch games off their harddrives.

So yes, there is more piracy.

Oh FUCK it. The whole drama just comes from the fact that people don't know the difference between a rebooter and the hack itself. People here on assemblergames should be a bit more tech savvy, so I'll try to explain it once more:

The hack allows you to execute code, all code you ever want.

But it doesn't come with code to execute. People have been porting linux, and other people would like to go with a patched MS kernel. The linux port has been released, the code to launch a pached MS kernel has not. Why? I don't know, I wasn't part of that, and to be honest: I DO NOT CARE.

If people want to see something which doesn't exist yet, GET YOUR ASS UP. There is no excuse in being lazy, just because somebody else decided that this or that should not be released.

Also I don't see the drama in all the XDK stuff. It's useless for non-devkit at the moment, because there is no way to run this stuff yet. This might change, but seriously, the waiting for XDK is just ANOTHER LAZY EXCUSE.

I've did a basic snes9x port in 1 day (I'll publish it soon, didn't have time yet and it requires some cleanup) NOT based on the XDK, but only on my own code, which runs directly on the hardware (i.e. no linux either). I didn't need any of the XDK stuff for that. In fact, XDK/MS kernel will restrict you. For example, you couldn't support any random USB devices (like bluetooth, 3rd party wifi dongles, ...). You couldn't (unless you do some hacking) support JIT compilation, which is a strong requirement for emulators like MAME to get decent speed (that's right: JIT will never work on a devkit, either). We could port Dolphin, and get a full speed Wii emulator. That also wouldn't work with the XDK for various reasons, since you cannot just virtualize the system there.

But yes, most people are lazy, and don't want to work on system libraries if they could use a leaked XDK instead.

Look at the Wii homebrew scene: They have awesome stuff there, and none of that is based on the SDK; it's all libogc-based.

Do we really need to end up like on xbox1, where all homebrew binaries were considered illegal?

Perhaps people need to be spoon fed and hand held.

There's no point in getting angry.

I think 99% of the people who talk about loving home dev, etc are really just using the exploits for piracy.

That said, it comes down to the USER, not the app maker.

I have a color laser at work, I can make fake i.d. cards and fake money.
    I choose NOT TO.

    It's that simple.

Why is it we can't calmly discuss xbox 360?

Why do people take pot shots at each other?

I think you're forgetting what forum you're on.

thanks tmbinc, hopefully someone will listen to what you wrote, because I've been trying to get some people's attention that all you really need is xell, but some people, like tiros, argue that I'd mention it just to flatter you

but it's not, I am 100% serious about it, you can do a lot of things on the 360
everything's there (except for sound, but that's not very crucial to see some good work)
you can draw frames on screen, calculate stuff and read inputs - what more do you need to code a game?
you can even use all 3 cores! how? reading out PIR everwhere you want a thread to be done (though I'm not sure if you fixed xell to get out of the idle cores?)

anyway, if someone would work on the sound driver, there would be NO excuse to code something needing the sdk

it's been possible to write quality homebrew for the past 2 years, but people are still just lazy and the eventual release of rebooter won't change a thing about it. just saying.

    very interesting topic.

The 360 has power to spare and it should be interesting to see what creative ways people will find to make use of the hardware.

Other than that, the drama is a bit childish and doesn't belong in an informative post such as this one. At least have the courtesy to offer viewers some pop corn if you're going down that route:p

Whats wrong with the good old Xbox days? You just fire up your console.. 10secs later.. Get into your hacked dashboard and enjoy some homebrew.

The XDK that came with the orig Xbox was good enough to write some very good stuff for example.. XBMC. :) Would we have XBMC without the XDK? .. I doubt it.

Linux has its place.. if you want to run a nice 360 server.. then good. :110:

I personally don't want to be sitting around configuring drivers/compling shit to get my homebrew working. It should just work. The XDK solves that problem.. despite it being illegal.. however without a decent openxdk theres no choice. heh.

Anyway lets look at the PS3.. it can run Linux by default.. lets look at all the wonderful homebrew created.. oh wait never mind. lol.

    tl;dr..

Just because the Xbox1 did it wrong doesn't mean we couldn't do it better. It's not just a question of legality, it's a question of style. And the question is not "linux or not", in fact, the thing doesn't have to do anything with linux.

Please look at other homebrew scenes (dreamcast, GC/wii, GBA/DS, or all the 8/16bit ones) - they didn't rely on a leaked SDK and they all had wonderful homebrew stuff. It's really only the original Xbox scene which had those "illegal binaries" problems.

LEo: It's running in quarter speed since it's in low-power mode, the same mode the 360 uses when playing back DVDs.
