It took me a minute to work out how they make their money - it's certainly an interesting way of doing it.
Frustrating as f**k each time someone bids the clocks jumps back another 10seconds lol - ARGH! It would NEVER end!
So you pop your yahoo snipe in at 10m10s & hope the other bidder doesn't notice! (Hey, it's worked for me!) With this service, (if I'm understanding it correctly) each bid will cost you 50p, so you could quite quickly spend a bundle without actually winning a thing to show for it! You're gambling that the (hopefully) discounted price of the auction item balances out against each 50p you spend making each bid for it (and that you actually win the thing).
Wow this is cool, I think I dont like how it goes up 10 seconds that would definatelly shoot up the price pretty high.
Well, better than the 5 to 10 minutes Yahoo adds. Really can piss you off because most good auctions end at around 11 to 12 at night. So you just want to go to bed but can't because some arse wipe keps adding an extra 100 yen to your max bid which means the auction lasts longer which in turn means you now have to wait to see if the arse will try to out bid you again after placing another higher bid. yakumo
Telebid is way too costly IMO (regarding that paid bidding system) - and they constantly (like, every 3 days) send me bumph telling me how great they are.
Sometimes the prices are quite cheap, but if you work out that on average the bid increments are 7p then £70 is 1000 bids and at 50p per bid £500 So if a DS sells for £70....bidder may well save £30ish....company makes £400 profit Very nice as well Why didn`t I think of it ;-)
Just bid what you are prepared to pay as a maximum, go to bed and get up to see if you won simple huh. None of this but I might get outbid and stick 100yen on it bullshit. I give this new company a year before they die.
But I was reading yesterday on the BID-BUTLER thing they have How does the BidButler work? For a simple, visual introduction to how the BidButler works, click here. How does the BidButler decide when exactly to place my Bids? Our BidButlers are instructed to be as frugal as possible when bidding. That’s why they wait until the last 10 seconds of the auction countdown to place your bids. When there are two or more BidButlers set on the same auction, they duke it out there and then, placing all their bids immediately. This tit for tat battle means that the price and countdown both increase with each bid placed. (We do this so that bidders can easily see the auctions that will end soon unless another bid is placed). We have a few simple rules about how your BidButler can be used - just remember these when telling your BidButler when to bid: You must use at least two bids when setting a BidButler: if you just want to place a single bid, just click the bid button. Your maximum price has to be at least one pound (£1) higher than the current end price. Once the bidding has reached the ‘Bid From’price at which you instructed your BidButler to start bidding, you can no longer cancel your bids. How do I cancel a BidButler? Provided the auction hasn’t reached your BidButler’s ‘Bid From’ price, you can select the BidButler overview tab and cancel him by clicking the red cross. Why did the auction end before my ‘Bid To’price was reached? To control the spending of your BidButlers, they are told to use no more bids than the ‘Bids’ value you assign. If he hits his spending limit then no more bids are placed, even if the current price is below your ‘Bid To’ value. What happens to BidButler bids that don´t get used? Bids that the BidButler doesn’t use are credited back to your TeleBid account. This might happen when you win an auction. It can also happen if an auction ends before your ‘Bid From’price is reached, or if your ‘Bid To’price is reached before all your bids are used up.
That's what I don't understand - if the bidding does work that way, almost everything is going to be insanely expensive after bidding costs are added in. Can't see them getting much repeat business, once folks get their bidding bills...
Yeah, I feel the same way, I don't mind bidding, but being charged because some twat jumps in and having to increase my maximum would put me off. However, it does reduce the amount of 'mates' just bidding to help their friends sell an item for a higher price.
