With all the hype about the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft blocking used game sales wouldn't that be illegal blocking and locking people into such commitments (anti competitive or something)?

I have read somewhere that the fees to sell / transfer your games will go back to the developers, as they lose money on each second hand sale, While I do support this incentive just a thought. Who actually says the fees in these new schemes actually go back to the developers?

No doubt .001 cents of every dollar may go back to them or whats not to say that sony and Microsoft are going to pocket it just like the Eb games and Co do now. I know for one I would rather my money going to Eb and getting a physical copy of a game than being raped by Sony and Microsoft for the privilage of downloading a game thats only good if the console is, Console dies and its no longer in production and servers are down well shucks your outta luck and money.

Also if you decide to sell / trade your game can you barter your price / game will these be determined by Sony and Microsoft? An example would be If a rare release or short production (ie. download time window) or even a pulled game makes it more valuable, than say a more common one .

As I mentioned in another thread that these are the consoles that are going to kill gaming. If not then it'll be pretty close.

    Thoughts?

Edit - Changed the $ to s's just for 7Force.

Yep: since these companies request a fee to re-activate the game, prices for second hand games SHOULD drop, maybe to a point gamers don't feel the urge to buy any games anymore, as their resale value drops drastically (and the adding of activation cost needs to be kept in mind).
Lots of gamers just buy and sell when having finished a game...
So it helps piracy again in some manner, with people looking for ways to mod a console to play without paying for re-activation (and maybe by doing this, having no online gameplay possibilities), resulting in people just playing backups... because they can.

Sorry, I mentally blocked your post because putting dollar signs in company names is fucking insufferable.

Ah yes, that's better. :friendly_wink: To be fair, Sony hasn't announced anything to block sales of used games, but overall the practice is scummy. Then again, Steam has been doing this for a very long time and they completely block all reselling of activated games, which makes them even more strict than MS's planned scheme.

It's still not clear. In some places it has been said that this "fee" wouldn't even be paid by consumers. Really more information is needed before we really know how this aspect will work. Because more recently they said that for example you could take your game to a friend and play it over there but when you get the game back to your console it would reactivate it for you and deactivate it for your friend's console. And that there would be no fee involved.

It goes like this If the People don't fix it, the Courts and Litigation will. If that doesn't work Douchebags in Guy Fawkes Masks will anally rape Microsoft Servers until they fix it.
