I had a pre-order on this one, but I cancelled it to save some cash. However, even though the reviews don't look stellar, I thought the gameplay looked pretty decent (if not repetitive), and I was actually laughing at some of the jokes and frequent breaking of the 4th wall. Does anyone else have it who can tell me if it's worth it?
Somebody said to me this reminded them of Duke Nukem and that isn't a good thing because Nukem represents the very lowest of humour in video games. Deadpool, like DN is funny in a way that is LOL FUNNAY XD that would make some tard who likes fart jokes and the never aging "get back in the kitchen" jokes laugh hard. The game play is good, but let down because Enemy AI is retarded and frankly I found the game was too easy; up to a certain point where it got ridiculously hard and then went back to being easy. Honestly the use of the word "fuck" alone in this game is comparable to making Dante from the new and edgy-proved DMC feel like a christian church girl. Game lacks replay value too. Humor was piss poor, rest of game was aight. 6/10 at a stretch. Not overwhelmed by this at all. No doubt 13 year olds worldwide who just learned about how xD KOOL DUDEBRO from tumblr are settling down right now to play this game with a bag of doritos and mountain dew. The entire tumblr tag is a case study for eugenics btw, a GAMER GRRRRL who looks past the sexism because she's a kool gamer girl
I enjoyed it. The humor is above Duke Nukem, he breaks the fourth wall a lot. The game was easy, then frustrating, then easy. The "challenge" mode is bland, and I put it away before i even unlocked infinite mode. If you like Deadpool it's worth it, other wise - probably not your cup of tea.
I went into this game with very limited knowledge on deadpool and I'm enjoying it....it's a mindless blast of fun and action and doesn't take itself seriously at all...don't go into this expecting arkham city and you should enjoy it.
The game has juvenile humor and balancing issues, if that's your cup of tea go for it but I bought this game hearing about this Deadpool shit thinking it'd be the pinnacle of comic book games and got a borderline broken game with the worst humor since DNF. I bet you liked the new DMC didn't you.
Only if it isn't made by Nintendo. Anyways, I've always liked Deadpool, especially in the comic run that started up during Secret Invasion that was absolutely fantastic (Deadpool vs. Bullseye being the pinnacle of that run). Haven't read much of it lately, though I did read his guest appearance in Superior Spider-Man (which is an awful concept... but regardless... Deadpool was funny in it). As for the game, I played a little of it. It seemed OK.
I've been watching my brother play it (and I've played some myself) and it seems to be just kinda average. Some issues I've noticed: -The humor is spot-on at first, mainly during cutscenes. However, the problem with this (that most players probably knew would happen sooner or later in a game like this) is that the act gets real fucking old, notably when treated to the same handful of quips/one-liners during gameplay after dying and starting a segment over. Basically, the novelty of the humor aspect dies off all too soon. -Lag/low framerates occur too often for comfort, sometimes even during moments where there absolutely shouldn't be any. -Combat gets old really quickly (even for a beat-em-up) and sometimes stronger enemies can cheaply corner Deadpool and drain his health. Most players are relegated to running away/teleporting constantly during fights to recover, particularly if their health has been drained by aforementioned cornering. -There are some segments which prove that platforming isn't exactly a strong suit of this game (probably why the devs allow the player to teleport if they seriously fuck up). -There are occasional moments where the player isn't given sufficient direction in where to go. I'd give it a 6.5/10 or so, personally.
If you mean the game by 3d realms (or ID, I forget which) I have not, and have not any other game under that name. I have heard it was a lot of violence/blood for the sake of being violent/bloody. But I'll give it a go if its worth a try.
The game isn't completely terrible, but isn't worth it's $50 (or even $40 if you're on PC) price tag. You end up fighting an extremely limited variety of enemies and while Deadpool's humor is fun, it's less Suicide Kings and more "be as crass as possible". There's another problem too: with fourth wall breaking, it works when the characters around the one doing it don't realize what's going on. Constantly getting reminded this is a game and some of the crazier stuff that happens out of the blue as a result impacts this negatively as a result and hurts its flow. It's not Matt Hazard but tries to be by being too self aware. The payoff finale has to be one of the worst I've ever experienced too, and I've been through a LOT of bad boss fights. Honestly if you want a comic book game that let you revel in just how insane comic book plots can be while firing like a madman I'd recommend Comic Jumper. It's cheaper and has more funny for its buck. This one's worth watching a Let's Play on youtube for the funnier bits. Eh, I've gotta give Manhattan Project some props as far as Duke Nukem goes. There was a time before 'Forever' where he was a fun over the top character to play as.
They were talking about the "forever" Duke Nukem, where the humor was lame (HAHA, HALO ARMOR, YOU RECOGNIZE THIS DON'T YOU, LAUGH YOU SHEEP!!!) and the gameplay was repetive, buggy and unfun.
I think the game without being stellar, is quite nice, i paid 30 quid for it, and it does what is supposed to do, entertain
I think they tried to write around the fourth wall breaking by making it a plot point. Some of the stuff is weird and obviously over the top because Deadpool rewrote the script (with crayon, how classy), once the games budget becomes spent everything becomes a zelda style top down game (right down to the music sounding like the final dungeon in Zelda).
Did you miss the part where I was the second person to reply in this thread with my thoughts on the game after I beat it? http://www.trueachievements.com/Deadpool/achievements.htm?showall=1&gamerid=132763 How the hell do you get Tony Hawk, a skateboarding game, mixed with a third person beat'em up?
