My favorite line is, "it's big, it's heavy, it's wood!" Ren & Stimpy was the best. I loved that show. Also no worries on the watermarks! Completely understandable. I'm just happy you've been able to share all this with is. It's great.
DF Retro teased an upcoming Dinosaur Island video in their recent DKC/Killer Instinct video. That could show us a bit more.
Check out this new video from Hard4Games with a bunch of new discoveries! I'll be posting even more (smaller stuff) here soon!
Please do! We're all looking forward to it. Thanks for everything that you've been able to do so far!
Great work. I can't believe a couple whole areas maps are in there. Hopefully that one supposed copy known to be out there is shared by its owner someday.
Alright, here's some more things! For some reason timestamped YT videos don't seem to work, so I put the times with the vids manually. This was part of Golden Plains, which was turned into the Ocean Force Point Temple in SFA. This same kind of platform can be seen here (20m28s): Golden Plains was supposed to be desert themed, which is pretty recognizable from the style of the assets. This is a Krazoa Statue, also from the puzzle mentioned above. The SFA version (22m): Seems to be from Golden Plains as well, but no idea what this might have been. Some more elements from Golden Plains, probably related to puzzles: A gas canister of some sorts, used in the CloudRunner Fortress race. A statue found in the data belonging to the LightFoot Village map. The mouth has a bone, so this could either speak, or drop something on the platform below. Blocks used in the LightFoot Village map. A bit different from SFA, in which you have to place the blocks on top of the hill in the map. In DP you'd have to place them in the totem poles themselves (see below) (13m38s): Seems to be the Moon Pass Key from SFA, with pretty much the same texture: A hole that Tricky might have dug up, or the base for an enemy or something? Pretty sure these are the Staff Energy Gems: http://starfox.wikia.com/wiki/Staff_Energy_Gem Some golden ball, not sure - has some transparency issues by default.
(Continuation because of image limit...) And now.. totem poles. From the back: SFA's version: And notice how the totem poles from DP have different base shapes for the wooden blocks from earlier! And the inhabitants of LightFoot Village. Only a few seconds of footage is known from these (3m18s): A version with spear, as seen in this SFA minigame (4m19s): I've also found some more maps, as seen in the Hard4Games video: Animtest / "Frontend": Note: The missing polygons are missing in the data. To prove this, we can see the same artefact when loading pieces of it in SFA itself: The other map is "Copy of swaphol" - which is an early version of ThornTail Hollow - very close to the SpaceWorld footage. This entrance is definitely from the N64 era, as the textures for it are split up and super small, also the style is very DP-ish. Final SFA entrance: This area in particular: SpaceWorld demo: Final: So... phew. That was quite a bit of stuff A question I've been getting quite a lot is if I can share the model viewer... I'm looking at ways to do this so everyone can see the models for themselves, I hope to have an update on this soon Let me know what you think! Which of these finds do you like the most?
I'm actually a fair bit interested in how you managed to get the Animtest map to load in the game. Did you use a program that you created to do that? Or is there a specific way of making it so that it can be done with a pre-existing tool?
