new everdrive md v2.4 available. new version have hardware megakey function, so cart can change console region for unlock any game. also megakey allow to run not modified cd bios Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Wow your products just keep getting better and better. can't wait to get enough money together to do an order.
Nice new feature  Is the 74HC5730 chip for Megakey support? Also what is the empty chip space/pads for on the back of PCB?
do not worry, previous version not so bad. most games could be unlocked by software methods, this is not so easy, but... yes, 74hc573 this is buffer for megakey. epty pads for hi speed internal clock generator, but unfortunatelly cart works not stable with such generator, so i stay it unused. in experiments i get SD SPI port speed up to 11mbit, but cart may hang sometimes, sad...
I found a dozen or so patches on the net for several non-US released games. So the work has often been done already.
Its a shame it didnt work, but good to gear you are still looking for ways to improve Everdrive  Do you think it would be possible to make Everdrive-MD act as 'CD Backup RAM Cart' for Mega-CD? Thats the one feature I would like to see added. <EDIT> If it helps heres some info about 'CD Backup RAM Cart' I posted a while ago:- http://segaretro.org/CD_BackUp_RAM_Cart http://www.segagagadomain.com/megadrive2/megacdram.htm Hand drawn schematics and pictures for the "CD Backup RAM Cart" are available for download in this thread:- http://www.eidolons-inn.net/tiki-vie..._parentId=4260 Direct download link:- http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DTWXAZ06 and there are some more schematics here:- http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=3383.0
What extra does the megakey offer? Since the rom's region patching is already handled by the OS on earlier to v2.4 versions I mean... If you have a modded console to change the region, does it offer anything more? What does the extra resistor conecting two legs on the chip in the back on my v2.3 of the board offers? Does it solve some problem or something?
software method can not unlock some games, but if you have region switch, then megakey not need. extra resistor for fix possible problems with saves. look here link83 may be i will implement cd backup function once, but in any case it will be very small bakup cart (just 32kb)
Thats great Even 256kbit/32kB would be fantastic since the Mega-CD only has 64kbit/8kB built in RAM, so four times more memory should give an extra 500 blocks save space. If you can then backup the FRAM save files to SD card this would allow practically infinite save space! Some Mega-CD games use up all 125 blocks of Mega-CD internal RAM, and "Shining Force CD" actually requires CD Backup RAM Cart to finish the game, so any extra space would be very useful
thanks for making such a cool product! any plans to make some more everdrive md boards for sale through your distributors?
I just received my new everdrive 2.4 with megakey. I was expecting a setting in the option menu to turn it on or off, but I just can't seem to understand how I'm suppose to take advantage of the feature. When I go in the device info section, megakey is always set to OFF. Any help on this KRIKzz?
probably you use everdrive via 32x or some other adapter. megakey works only if cart connected directly
I think I did tried it directly in my CDX instead of passing it through the 32x. Not sure if I did though. But I did try it in my Nomad and got the same result. Is it possible that it only works on Genesis/MegaDrive model 1/2?
i can't test on nomad or cdx, but i think that megakey should work on all systems. region free ontion set to "on"?
Yes, region free is set to ON. Got my Nomad with me and I just re-tested it. I'll re-test it tonight on my CDX and if it still doesn't work, I got a model 1 Genesis I can try it on. Is there any way that the megakey function could just not work on my specific cart?
i tested megakey function for all carts before shipping, but yes, it can be defect of your specific cart
