Just because there wasn't already a thread dealing with the matter. Post your comments.

My 2 cents: Like the 'Help and tools request' section in the Dev forum, and the 'Ask our users' is also a welcome addition (if a little vague).

As for the marketplace, nice to see a 'Wanted Items' section, although I may I suggest that all topics be automatically deleted after a set amount of inactivity. Also members who are no longer looking for the said items delete their topics, this would reduce clutter and be a lot easier for members to find good homes for their products.

And lastly, maybe (as someone has already suggested) the 'General' forums should be moved lower in the list as it may prevent people joining the forums under the assumption it is a more general gaming forum?

I was actually really accostmomed to the design before, but it was too broad, or vague or both actually, the new design really and clearly tells defines the site, and where things should go, still its the best designed forum around, and you can mark my words on that

I have to slightly disagree with deleting old wanted items threads. I think closing the topic would be best, as if a reliable unregistered user who would like to remain anonymous has an item the other person was looking for months ago, they could contact them. There's a good possibility that could happen ;-) .

Now that I agree to, as long as its not too much trouble for ASSEMbler. This place is of course Home of the Obscure! Whatever is beneficial to the community is good!

BTW, I'm really looking forward to new choosable layout/color schemes!

I like the new layout.. a little doubtful about the trench section thougt, feel like people will be missusing it. I especially like the fact that the Rules is posted at the top so people can see it clearly.

The idea wouldn't be closing a topic after a said amount of time, just after a said amount of inactive time. I.E. say the time period was 1 month, after which the user could bump the thread and it would remain. Otherwise I fear that there would be too much to read through for members wanting to sell off items, and there would also be the ones that people have left up there even when they're no longer in need of an item.

I disagree. I like the thought of being able to put up a rolling "Wanted" post and update it as my tastes and collection changes. People looking to sell something can always use the search function to see if it shows up in anyone's list.

Though are we just speculating about a "Wanted Items" section, because I don't see one?

...and shouldn't this be in Off Topic instead?

the problem with everyone having a wanted list is that everyone wants everything. I mean, who would turn down a ps2 TOOL for $200, weather you could afford it or not. So then everyone would have to put a price on everything on their want list, in which case this place becomes a reverse ebay. I have a feeling it would be best for people who are trying to sell to create their own thread to advertise.

Any chance of putting a link to the main branch of the forum on the main page? I know i can just click through one of the links on the right, but it would be nice to have a link on the main page.

Thanks! I like the new unregistered user forums... :typin:

I don't know if this should be asked here, but my posts keep getting subscribed to my email. Even after I've changed the settings in my user profile, it still reverts to Instant Email notification. This happens wherever I log in, home/school. It started when I first subscribed a thread weeks ago. Is there a way this could be fixed?

I'm getting the problem too. Could be an issue with Firefox 1.5; wouldn't be the first. Also cannot get to the forum root without using the "home" link on the front page. Minor inconvenience for now.

Looks awesome, problems seem to be fixed.

As a side note, there seem to be a lot more posts all of a sudden. I guess we just had a temporary lull in postings...
